  1. He can’t play just as well as any other backup we’ve had.
  2. Lions agree to terms with QB Teddy Bridgewater, CB Rock Ya-Sin
  3. I understand what you are saying, but that type of trade needs to be for someone younger. Parsons was 26 when he was traded for a players less than what the Raiders want. Three years difference is a long time when discussing football careers. Crosby is going to be in decline. You might be able to get a season or two out of him at the plateau, but he’s not going to be getting better. That’s two years of additional roster attrition for a guy who is as good now as he will ever be.
  4. Stay away from Crosby. Far far away. That was the dumbest trade. Old, hurt, and expensive. Pass.
  5. Then you trade down. Someone wants that defensive player. And it was bad business not to move up and get a tackle if you put all your eggs in the draft basket.
  6. Also, if the only remaining players in the tier are positions the Lions don’t need (RB and QB, for example) then the Lions would possibly explore trading back.
  7. Outside of a few exceptions early in the draft, I don’t believe that the grading system is that finely tuned. There is just no objective way to differentiate players from different positions. At their pick they will likely have players clumped and they will choose one who plays a position they need from that pool of players. It’s possible that someone they had in a higher rated group last beyond the rest of their group, and historically that’s when Brad decides to trade up.
  8. “Smith has dealt with multiple injury issues over the last few years. He has not played a full slate of games since 2019, when he started all 16. He played 16 games in 2022 as well. But in the last three seasons, he’s started 10, 12, and 13 games for Indianapolis.“
  9. That’s probably as good as you can hope for, Walker is probably one of the few backs that can expect a larger share of the touches than Gibbs here. Curious if the Chiefs had interest in resigning him. Don’t think I heard anything.
  10. Aaron Jones would be interesting, assuming he’s ok being #2. There will also be questions by any potential free agent about the split, last year would give anyone pause that their career could die here.
  11. Same. But he’s #1 there.
  12. I wanted no part of Tua. I’ve been wrong a lot but he was a hard pass. Same with Fields.
  13. Just when you thought the Raiders overpay for a center couldn’t be worse… The full Tyler Linderbaum contract is guaranteed, as a practical matter
  14. Wondering if they are trying to buy a bunch of lottery tickets to in the hopes they can flip few for draft picks in the next couple years. They are going to be bad and have salary cap. Might as well.
  15. The Raiders are going to Raider Raiders agree to terms with DE Kwity Paye
  16. They can love him all they want, but he is what he is. I don’t think he’s going to magically turn into a player just because they guys who drafted him still want to believe.
  17. These contracts are always overstated. Still big money, but the cap is always going to go up. The entire business model depends on it.
  18. I think I prefer Dowdle to Dobbins or Allgeier.
  19. Thoughts on the Rams trading and signing half the Chiefs defensive backfield?
  20. Gary is going to be pissed.
  21. He reworked his deal earlier. Allgeier is an RB2 just like he would have been here. Not a fan anyway.
  22. I just don’t think Holmes is going to spend money this way. I’m not qualified to say if it’s the right or wrong move. I think Holmes prioritizes preserving future assets over increasing current odds. As long at he doesn’t forget how to draft the Lions will likely be average to above average for the long haul, similar to the Steelers. But unless he has another home run draft or two the Lions will be above average at best. That’s certainly better than most of the Lions history. Maybe if we can string together enough average seasons we might luck into a Super Bowl like this years. Either as the Patriots who got a softest schedule and injury luck, or as the Seahawks who faced a team that didn’t belong there.
