Imagine if the Tigers had traded Skubal as part of a deal years ago for a reliever. Sometimes you need to trust your own scouting and development. Maybe the other teams were focused on prospects the Tigers have high confidence in. i don’t put much stock in the prospect rankings anymore. Good for letting us know who is who in the minor leagues but they are just subjective evaluations. I would prefer they trade minor leaguers for proven MLB talent, but I have no idea how to evaluate or develop young talent. I do know that this leadership has in all likelihood gotten the Tigers into the playoffs in consecutive years. That’s not something I would have expected a couple years ago.

Pretty good chance I’ll be in the bay area for work the week of the A’s series. Might try to get to Sacramento for a game.

I think Olson’s issue is blood flow related. There isn’t enough blood in the human body to keep his cheeks that red AND supply oxygen to the shoulder.

My biggest concern is that it appears that this is the sports books doing the outing as a “watchdog” based off of losing bets. They don’t care about the sport at all, just the money they win through this stuff. That’s the real danger. Selective enforcement.

Ok, the swing off thing is only ok for something like an all star game. It should never be used in a regular season game. Just end in a tie instead, please. If they are worried about teams playing for a tie then they should be worried about teams playing for a swing off too.

For an all star game, who cares? It’s all about fun. Do crazy crap, it’s fine. This game doesn’t matter at all.

Plus, the players worth trading for are a more valuable commodity to the team today than whatever prospect they get. Dumping some of their better players in early July will hurt attendance, even if attendance is already not that great. So, unless you blow a team away with an offer they will likely believe that the offers will only get better as the deadline nears and teams get caught up in the rush or a team gets a little too desperate.
