This is correct. Nothing Illitch has done to this point suggest he won't spend a reasonable amount. Will he go overboard and lose a bunch of money in a desparate attempt to win like his dad? Probably not, but the concern we won't pay out big contracts to sign players or retain our talent has no basis in reality.

That's not really accurate, he's below MLB average in both GB% and PU%. He just hasn't been making solid contact and hitting the ball regardless of the hit profile.

Keith has both a higher GB% and pull% than Canha. Canha is hitting more GB than he normally does so far, but for his career he hits less GB than the MLB average. Keith also has a .444 OPS on the season. Also, you absolutely want one of your 3 best hitters in the #2 spot. Really what's happening is Canha had one bad AB where he GIDP in extra innings against the Mets and you're basing everything upon that one AB and burying your head in the sand and ignoring all the evidence that shows your take and opinions are blatantly incorrect. Literally all the things you say Canha lacks for the #2 spot are legitimate strengths of his game.

Its a rate stat, not a counting stat, so whether second or overall is irrelevant. And replacing our third best hitter with one of our worst at the top of the lineup is honestly one of the worst suggestions I've seen on this board.
