  1. Fangraphs has an article that argues that they paid Ohtani what he's worth, as a hitter and pitcher combined.
  2. I'll be retired by the time Ohtani is done with that contract.
  3. Another thing here is, Rushing was just drafted in 22. Cartaya is on their 40 man. Cartaya struggled offensively last year. Rogers is a much better catcher than either Cartaya or Rushing.
  4. They wouldn't give up Rogers in the deal for Rushing. Rushing can't throw, he's not going to be a catcher.
  5. If Rogers was in the deal, then they were getting back a catcher, since they have 2 that are already blocked.
  6. Don't forget about the goalie from MSU, I heard that the Wings like him a lot.
  7. This isn't a good draft at the top. Some good hitters, but they're all position deficient. Two shortstops I have in mind for #11 are Seaver King from Wake Forest, and local kid Caleb Bonemer of Okemos. You hate to draft for need, but these are good players, and IMO SS is always a need, especially now.
  8. One thing that the pandemic did, and this is fascinating to me, is change the perception of the older players in the minors who can play in the majors. It's also an effect from the larger rosters.
  9. As long as the Lions don't turn the ball over, they will beat the Bears.
  10. Snell is the opposite type of pitcher that Harris covets. He throws a lot of pitches and walks a lot of batters. No thanks for the price.
  11. Ohtani is also a unicorn right now, obviously.
  12. Yamamoto: 9 years, 300 million. He's 25 years old. Reason why Ohtani only signed for 2.3 million is that he was too young to sign as a free agent, and had to go through the international signing process. Yamamoto is of age, but is a unicorn because he's so young and polished and talented.
  13. It would not shock me if the Dodgers were to sign both Yamamoto and Ohtani.
  14. Yamamoto: 9 years, 300 million. He's 25 years old.
  15. I think that it got out that Yamamoto isn't interested with the Tigers because they have no Japanese players. It sounds like that is a reason that Harris is going after Maeda (besides being a very good pitcher). It sounds like Harris wants the Tigers to have a hand in the Japanese/Korean markets, and to do that, he's going to have to carry other Japanese/Korean players on their roster.
  16. Dan Dickerson was on 97.1 last monday, and was really pumping up Mize's stuff; said that he was throwing really well lately.
