  1. Well, that could very well be the nail in the coffin for Superbowl hopes. When you have no defense, you need a balanced offense to control the ball and keep the defense off the field and now their bell cow RB is gone. I don't know what else to say, the SOL Gods have struck down on us again with fury. Not that SOL this time around is the Lions fault, just the fact that this is happening during their best season of the Superbowl makes you believe that the Lions just can't have nice things.
  2. Yep, I'd consider myself a Glass Hall Full fan but I think their Superbowl chances took an enormous hit with the loss of McNeil and Davis. I wouldn't count the Lions out because the offense is healthy, thus far, and the culture is strong but you need some dudes to win playoff and the Lions will be without their 3 best dudes for a Superbowl run, the Superbowl dream seems to be just that at this point....a dream.
  3. Campbell said that the McNeil and Davis injuries could be season ending. It might be time to panic now, they absolutely can't afford to lose those two in addition to not having their starting edges likely for the entire playoffs as well.
  4. It's going to be a tough game, the Bears always play the Lions tough no matter how bad the Bears are or how good the Lions are.
  5. Meh, win the last 3 and you get the #1 seed. I think a game like this might actually be good for the Lions, first real adversity of the season on the field (not including injuries) so this could be a launching point for them to correct mistakes and perhaps get humbled.
  6. There's too many damn domed stadiums as is. Maybe I'm more of a traditionalist but it's sad seeing these outdoor stadium teams going indoors now, I believe the Bears are building a new domed stadium too and I think the Titans are going to a dome as well. The elements are part of what makes football fun and unique and it's being stripped away. Looking at the renderings of the new Bills stadium, it might not have a roof but it has that partial roof similar to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami which will create a new set of problems with shadows. Just another modern looking stadium that has no charm.
  7. Tanking has done nothing for the Pistons in the past outside of getting extremely lucky with Cade. Three straight #5 picks with them slotting in at 3, 1 and 2 in the drafting order respectively. Ivey, Ausar and Holland. Not one star in that group although Ivey has the potential to be a fringe All Star level player. Tanking and being as terrible as possible is terrible for development and all it gives you is slightly better odds at a very longshot lottery win. Boston and OKC built their teams through a few high draft picks yes but mostly smart asset management and smart drafting. Management needs to put in the work, not put all the eggs into the winning a draft lottery basket.
  8. Of course if they get offered a 1st it should be heavily considered but at some point the perpetual spinning of the wheels in the rebuild has to stop. Not that Beasley alone vaults the Pistons into contention but it's vital to have vets like his to help the team take the next step and I don't think it's a coincidence that Cade's assist numbers have shot up with a competent shooter like Beasley flanking him, Ivey's improved 3 has also helped. What I'd do if I was Langdon is talk extension with him before the trade deadline to get a feel if he's interested in staying at a reasonable price. If not then, yeah, they should probably trade him. Just not sure that a fairly one dimensional shooter is worth much, we saw what Bogey and Burks were worth although I do think Beasley has been a better fit than both of those guys.
  9. Why not? The group needs to learn to win at some point, and nobody is paying a 1st for Beasley anyway so might as well keep him for the season and try to extend him, he's only 28.
  10. The Lions barely beat the Bears, at home, so I don't know how you can say this won't be a tough game at a place that has been historically very tough on the Lions even last year when the Lions were the far better team but got whipped. The Niners will absolutely be a tough game. They're desperate and there's still a lot of very good players on that team and a strong culture much like the Lions. There's no way that's an "easy" game, no way.
  11. Yeah Puka is unreal and Stafford can still play at an elite level. The Rams are very dangerous if they get in.
  12. The Rams are better than the record shows IMO. If Puka hadn't been injured, they probably would have run away with that division already.
  13. This might sound weird but I think the game at Chicago will be their toughest test. The conditions will likely turn the game into a bit of a slugfest and the Lions always struggle with the Bears even the last 2 years in which they were the much better team. Really, all the games left on the schedule will be challenging. The Lions will be up to it but this is the toughest part of their schedule.
  14. Just gotta keep winning. Can't depend on others for help. Actually, I believe they can still afford to lose to Buffalo (AFC loss) and still control their destiny for the 1 seed.
  15. Their resilience is something else. Goff threw that awful pick then he was pretty much perfect the rest of the way, bad playcall on 4th down in their own territory then they continue to be aggressive not phased one bit, offensive line struggling to run block then pave a Detroit sized hole through the Green Bay D-line on the final 4th down. They refused to lose this game and now 10 days of much needed rest to hopefully get a few guys back and lets pray that the Alim injury isn't serious.
  16. The GRIT of this game and this team was something else. To beat a high quality opponent with that defense as battered as it was, with the added Alim injury in game, was one of the greatest things I've witnessed as a Lions fan. Couldn't be more proud of this team after an effort like THAT.
  17. Absolutely hated that call. I didn't even mind going for it there but a QB sneak or a playaction and they get that easily I bet. Ben tends to get too cute at times, it can be frustrating with him at times.
  18. People are going to question Campbell about the 4th down call but I completely get it. Win the game with your best unit, get one yard and make sure that the offense takes the clock down to zero. I don't know if there's another coach in the league that would have had the giant balls to make an aggressive call like that
  19. They won the toss and received just last game
  20. Cooper Flagg looked really good. Of course we know the Pistons will end up with the 5th pick but throw the season in the Pooper for Cooper has now initiated.
  21. That nickname was used already. I think it was Greg Zurelien when he was with the Rams. Still, cool nickname regardless
  22. That's actually insane the amount of depth this organization has in all 3 phases. Might be one of the most well rounded rosters we've seen in the league in a long time. Doesn't guarantee a Superbowl of course but it sure helps the chances. Also of note that Hutch would likely be #1 on this list if healthy and Anzalone probably should be.
  23. All the Lions have to do is beat Green Bay this week and the Lions don't have to worry about them anymore. Easier said than done and it'll certainly be a tough matchup but a true championship level team wins this game at home and puts away the Packers. The Vikings are another story, it'll likely come down to that last game but the Lions are also likely to be healthier by then, not projecting for other injuries happening between now and then of course. The Eagles are the biggest playoff threat, to state the obvious. Perhaps the only team in the league with more overall talent than the Lions now playing to their talent level. It's clear that their late season nosedive last season was a fluke.
  24. The Lions need the Eagles to lose more anyway since they control their destiny for the division even with a few losses.
  25. With the combination of the Pistons being improved and the east being a hot mess, I'd be surprised if the Pistons weren't in play in contention by the deadline so I don't see any reason to trade Beasley. I think re-sign is the best option, he's an obvious fit with Cade and/or Ivey and he's only 28, well 29 when the new contract kicks in. Unless he doesn't want to be here, I think he should be a priority in the offseason assuming the price isn't too outrageous.
