  1. There's no reason for them to do that IMO. Why? As I said before, treat it like a second bye week especially for the guys that are a bit banged up.
  2. So since the Niners game is meaningless I'd be resting some guys. They should treat it like a second bye week. The Lions depth is already thin as is on defense so it would be foolish to play everybody.
  3. I just think they need to make it work. He's young enough to be a key part of this team for the next few years.
  4. What a wild finish, biggest win in a long time. I think they need to re-sign Beasley, he fits like a glove here.
  5. Absolutely horrendous execution down the stretch again, seems to be a common theme even in the wins that they luck out (close wins). Great game before that but then everybody including Cade completely clammed up in the last 3 minutes, this keeps happening when does it end?
  6. I forgot that they could still drop to 7th but, still, it's not the same motivation as locking up a playoff spot.
  7. There's a very good chance that this is a meaningless game. The Packers are going to have nothing to play for and could very well rest starters so it's looking more than likely that it's coming down to the final game. I'd rest some starters against the Niners once the Vikings beat the Packers especially on defense where they can't afford any more injuries.
  8. Massive loss by the Eagles. All the Lions have to do is win next week and they're clear of Philly. Now the Vikings need to be the ViQueens against Seattle and the Lions can clinch the 1 seed next week
  9. I don't get why they kicked the FG at 34-14 either. They're waiving the white flag on the season
  10. MAybe but the difference between 37-17 and 34-17 at this point in the game is minimal. Go for the killshot there
  11. Cade is a legit All Star, it's a testament to how weak the roster is around him that they're only 12-17. A player playing at his level deserves a better record. Ivey looks like an above average starter at times but then fades away at other times and they have one of the weakest 3-5 trios in the league. If Langdon brings in, lets say, a high level Stretch 4 this team could jump into the lower end of the playoff race not just play-in maybe even a bit higher the way Cade is playing. Banchero has Wagner plus a bunch of other solid players, SGA has Chet and a bunch of other dudes, Tatum has Brown, Luka has Kyrie, the Rockets have a bunch of guys that chip in etc. Cade has Ivey sometimes and ???Cade needs help, he's too good to be barely holding down a play-in spot in a horrible east.
  12. Was just going to post this. Forget all the crap I just said, I'm all in now. Who's running through the wall with me?
  13. Campbell and Barnes play different positions, Levi yes but he has to stay healthy, we'll see on Iffy, Arnold hasn't played #1 corner like Sutton did last year so that's a wait and see. Even if I agree with you on all that, Hutch and McNeil are massive subtractions from last years NFC Championship defense. The Lions are likely going to have to win a bunch of shootouts to win a Superbowl. The offense is capable but that's an enormous ask of the offense to be nearly perfect every playoff game against playoff defenses and even they are down their 1b running back. They have to get the 1 seed and more importantly the bye to have any chance.
  14. Lots of turnovers and bad shots in the 4th AGAIN although in fairness to him he had zero help out there. Could have used Ivey in those moments.
  15. Hutch+McNeil+Barnes+Iffy (who was a major factor in the playoffs) vs. Smith+Reader. Arnold and Sutton are pretty much a saw-off. We'll see if Anzalone comes back at 100%, if not that's another big loss. Maybe Iffy comes back and gives them a boost but his health is always.... Iffy. The defense is considerably worse now. With that said, I was kind of doom and gloom yesterday due to the initial shock of all the season ending injures being still fresh but I'm in a different mindset this morning of just choosing to be enjoy the rest of the season, it's been a fun ride. What else can we do? No use stressing out over something as trivial as football so I'll just cheer on the team without the weight of expectations and worry of failure and hope for the best.
  16. The running game is key to setting up the passing game/playaction where Goff excels. Gibbs is as good as he is in part to splitting duties, I don't see him being as effective as the feature back and in tight playoff games Monty is exactly the type of player to grind out tough yards not that Gibbs is a wallflower or anything but Monty is their tough yards guy. They're going to need to control the clock to protect the defense and a big part of their clock churning was due to Monty.
  17. Well, that could very well be the nail in the coffin for Superbowl hopes. When you have no defense, you need a balanced offense to control the ball and keep the defense off the field and now their bell cow RB is gone. I don't know what else to say, the SOL Gods have struck down on us again with fury. Not that SOL this time around is the Lions fault, just the fact that this is happening during their best season of the Superbowl makes you believe that the Lions just can't have nice things.
  18. Yep, I'd consider myself a Glass Hall Full fan but I think their Superbowl chances took an enormous hit with the loss of McNeil and Davis. I wouldn't count the Lions out because the offense is healthy, thus far, and the culture is strong but you need some dudes to win playoff and the Lions will be without their 3 best dudes for a Superbowl run, the Superbowl dream seems to be just that at this point....a dream.
  19. Campbell said that the McNeil and Davis injuries could be season ending. It might be time to panic now, they absolutely can't afford to lose those two in addition to not having their starting edges likely for the entire playoffs as well.
  20. It's going to be a tough game, the Bears always play the Lions tough no matter how bad the Bears are or how good the Lions are.
  21. Meh, win the last 3 and you get the #1 seed. I think a game like this might actually be good for the Lions, first real adversity of the season on the field (not including injuries) so this could be a launching point for them to correct mistakes and perhaps get humbled.
  22. There's too many damn domed stadiums as is. Maybe I'm more of a traditionalist but it's sad seeing these outdoor stadium teams going indoors now, I believe the Bears are building a new domed stadium too and I think the Titans are going to a dome as well. The elements are part of what makes football fun and unique and it's being stripped away. Looking at the renderings of the new Bills stadium, it might not have a roof but it has that partial roof similar to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami which will create a new set of problems with shadows. Just another modern looking stadium that has no charm.
  23. Tanking has done nothing for the Pistons in the past outside of getting extremely lucky with Cade. Three straight #5 picks with them slotting in at 3, 1 and 2 in the drafting order respectively. Ivey, Ausar and Holland. Not one star in that group although Ivey has the potential to be a fringe All Star level player. Tanking and being as terrible as possible is terrible for development and all it gives you is slightly better odds at a very longshot lottery win. Boston and OKC built their teams through a few high draft picks yes but mostly smart asset management and smart drafting. Management needs to put in the work, not put all the eggs into the winning a draft lottery basket.
  24. Of course if they get offered a 1st it should be heavily considered but at some point the perpetual spinning of the wheels in the rebuild has to stop. Not that Beasley alone vaults the Pistons into contention but it's vital to have vets like his to help the team take the next step and I don't think it's a coincidence that Cade's assist numbers have shot up with a competent shooter like Beasley flanking him, Ivey's improved 3 has also helped. What I'd do if I was Langdon is talk extension with him before the trade deadline to get a feel if he's interested in staying at a reasonable price. If not then, yeah, they should probably trade him. Just not sure that a fairly one dimensional shooter is worth much, we saw what Bogey and Burks were worth although I do think Beasley has been a better fit than both of those guys.
  25. Why not? The group needs to learn to win at some point, and nobody is paying a 1st for Beasley anyway so might as well keep him for the season and try to extend him, he's only 28.
