  1. Yeah, I'm thinking Reader to the Lions is likely now as long as he passes the medicals. At least I sincerely hope because he's a game changer for this defense.
  2. That's fair but Goff did miss Chark on a lot of jump ball opportunities to my recollection.
  3. I don't think he fits the Lions offense and Goff in particular. Mike Williams is a jump ball merchant and that's just not Goff's strength. I could see them more in on somebody like Renfrow than Mike Williams.
  4. Wow, that's random and probably a rare thing where the hockey player is taller than the basketball player. Myers is a giant.
  5. I fully expected it. Holmes is not going to sign top of the market free agents to multi-year deals, get used to it. It's worked so far.
  6. The Lions might not have a true #1 corner but they have lots of depth now. Still need a long term solution so I think it should still be near the top of the needs list at the draft. Now I'd like to see them sign an edge or Reader as has been rumored that they were in on him. Need a #3 WR too and a LG but that will likely be saved for the draft.
  7. Yep. I actually love that place but there are some real pessimistic posters that are very loud with their disapprovals.
  8. Exactly right, he's replacing the fringe guys. He might not be a true 1 but they have two quality corners now instead of one quality guy and a replacement level guy. Moseley is the insurance, when he's ready to play. Personally, I would have preferred signing a guy like Fuller who is probably on Davis's level and not giving up the draft compensation but maybe that wasn't in the cards for Holmes.
  9. It essentially amounted to about a 4th with the two 6ths in return. Not so bad IMO, this is more of a win now mode and they still have 3 picks in the first 3 rounds. Also, it was the Lions 3rd not the Vikings one so a lot closer to a 4th.
  10. Channeled my inner Nostradamus with this one. Carlton Davis was really good a few years ago, not sure how you fared last year but this is Brad's big swing.
  11. Same here. Still lots of big names out there, that I don't think Holmes will sign, but they're out there still. It does seem like if he does go big, it'll be at CB and the market is still flush with them.
  12. Yep, I've been saying this for a while. I think the Lions did well with Glasgow taking this into consideration, I thought he'd get something like a 3 year $30m deal on the open market.
  13. It's funny seeing the meltdown on this other board that I frequent. "Holmes is doing nothing" "Holmes doesn't care to address any needs" etc. First of all, besides the fact that it's asinine to criticize Holmes like 5 hours into the offseason, do these people know Brad Holmes? He's not going to overpay in the first wave of free agency. Holmes can be unpredictable in the draft but he's predictable in free agency in now his 4th go at it. He's not going to overspend for the A level free agents so I guess people will continue to get mad hoping for the splashy moves.
  14. Alim is as good a pass rusher (look at his pressure rate) and is a lot younger. Wilkins excels at run defense but throughout most of his career hasn't been much of a pass rusher, he just so happened to find that pass rush magic in his contract year lucky enough for him. Really glad that the Lions weren't the ones giving him the bag.
  15. Stay away from Wilkins. Non-elite DT that will get elite money, more known for his run defending than his pass rush even though he had nice sack numbers last year. The Lions need to allocate resources to other positions anyway and need to pay Alim soon.
  16. I was thinking of 4 years $200m but 5 at 250 wouldn't be surprising either and all the usual haters will be poking fun at SOL signing Goff at that contract, clueless haters I should say.
  17. The cap rose by $30m so every new contract is going to look like an overpay but it's the new market that people need to get used to. The market we saw last year doesn't exist anymore. This is why I'd be floored if Goff took a penny less than $50m/yr.
  18. Dickerson is better than Jonah, not a comparable IMO.
  19. He'll be pricey in terms of trade capital and contract. I'd rather aim for a B level guy like Fuller who won't cost a premium asset and come at a more reasonable number. It's not like Sneed is Revis Island or prime Ramsey, he's good but not the elite of the elite.
  20. I know he's young but I'm getting serious Drummond vibes from him. Effort comes and goes, horrible defense (terrible rim protector), tries to do too much on offense at times, low basketball IQ. I think he has more raw athleticism than Andre and has better free throw touch but...yeah, he's Drummond.
  21. 30% is a big improvement on what he was shooting the first half of the season. Slowly but surely like I said. If he can get that percentage up to 33-35% or so, he's an All Star level player in 2-3 years like a better Herb Jones although he'll never be as good a long range shooter as Herb is.
  22. Slowly but surely, Ausar is starting bring up that 3 point percentage. Maybe it's just a blip but it's worth noting since he's also done that before towards the end of last season. Big if he can get that thing up to merely league average because he's really good at everything else.
  23. Bingo. That's stash money for extensions, that $50m is going to be gone at the blink of an eye once all these guys get extended the next 2 years but it also depends on the contract structures like you said. Amon-Ra's raise alone will cover almost half of that. While it does appear that the Lions SB window is just opening, I'd argue that last season and this upcoming season might be their best shot at a SB considering all the bargain rookie contracts they have and Goff's current contract. It's going to get a lot more difficult to build depth once everybody gets paid so there is/was some validation for going all in now and last deadline tbh.
