  1. Officially throwing this out there: Tigers get: Mitch Keller K'Bryan Hayes David Bednar Thomas Harrington Pirates get: Rainer Lirizano Hamm Vierling (Not sure if we'd have to include Ty Madden to balance this out or not) Tigers get a #3 starter, a 3B (defense wins championships and he's the best defensive 3B in the game which will boost our starters drastically), a closer, and a top pitching prospect (Can probably be brought up in RP role for stretch run). Pirates get two premium position players, a strong SP prospect and a Utility player to use now. They keep in tact their future rotation of Skenes, Jones, Chandler, Barco (probably best four SP rotation in MLB in 2 years), Heaney with Hamm and another 20+ pitching prospects behind them (they are LOADED in pitching). Who says no?
  2. Tigers get: Tyler Freeland Ryan McMahon Juan Meja (Look at his road splits) Rockies get: Rainer Hamm Jung Ty Madden Who says no?
  3. I think if Nick Martinez was under contract for another year then yes. But for one year probably a no imo. I think they can use Anderson + someone else (Jung, Lee, Liranzo) to get Mitch Keller and Bednar from the Pirates. Would fit us better.
  4. I don't understand the fascination with Taylor Ward. A .232/.309/.488 (with a .268 BABIP and a 26% K rate). He also has a minus 2.7 defensive value. Yea the dude can hit some home runs. But being able to get on base at a .309 clip? Due for massive regression. And a terrible defender. Ironic though because a guy I work with went to school with him and is really good freinds with him. But I don't get why we'd want him. Seems like some pop off the bench but I wouldn't want him out there every day. I'd rather go after Ryan O'Hearn and stick him in LF. Jung + Hamm could probably get it done. We don't need to give up our top 5 guys for O'hearn. If we wanted to get crazy then we could look at a package for O'Hearn and Felix Bautista. Then we might be looking at adding in someone like Liranzo or Lee to the previous package. But then you address the Bat and closer without totally sapping your farm team. I think Jung and Hamm will both be very productive MLB players. Liranzo and Lee will too but I think they'd be more average than above average. It can be done.
  5. Crazy still. River Hamilton, Grinsell and Dumesnil were all 2nd round talents. Jacobs could have gone in the first for a while there. Thats some good rounded depth. I like that they targeted a lot of HS's this draft too. Olivito was ranked 50th by ESPN and 59th by Fangraphs. Yost was ranked 36th by Fangraphs. I like Fangraphs a lot. They seem to be more in tune with things if you ask me. Especially with Saberhager and his write ups. https://tigersmlreport.com/2025/07/19/some-thoughts-on-the-2025-detroit-tigers-draft-class/ is a great article if you got time to read. They point out that the pitchers we took have some good upside but have one or two things that could use some fixing. I'm so glad our pitching department has changed so much over the years. We used to be trash at developing pitchers. Now I think Fetter has instilled a great program throughout the organization. Dude better get a raise this year....... He's probably the best coach the Tigers have.
  6. I think Harris will be reserved. I think he'll look at marginal deals, not necessarily for stars. But Something along the lines of Jung for a Reliever. I think he's looking at the depth chart. Jung can still be good and if he was still prospect rating worthy, he'd be between 5-8 on our prospect list. But he's now the 3rd or 4th best at SS/3B in our organization. So he's got hype value still. Jung for someone like Bednar wouldn't surprise me at all. I could see the Cubs trading someone like Owen Cassie for Emanuel Clase or someone like that. But only if there's multiple years of control. Or they could do Cassie and someone like Jackson Wiggins for Mitch Keller + Bednar. You're right that the Cubs are built to win now. I could see them making a move like that including their top prospect. I don't think the Tigers will touch their top 5 but Jung his the highest prospect value we have that will be moved. Just my $0.02. (Honestly I wouldn't mind keeping Jung. I think he can fix his crap and be an average 3B at least. But I think he gets moved this trade deadline)
  7. Ethan Rogers, LHP, sr., Lone Jack College commitment: Wichita State Drafted: Round 18, Pick 549 Team: Detroit Tigers The MLB Draft is truly a crapshoot. While there were rumblings late in the draft process that at least one team was considering taking Rogers in the early rounds, he and his mid-90s fastball ultimately ended up going to the Tigers in round 18. Rogers went 8-1 this season with a 0.53 ERA for the Mules, who went 29-5. The southpaw struck out 118 batters in 52.2 innings and allowed only 10 hits, 12 runs (4 earned) and walked 33. Not to be overlooked, He also batted .500 (53-for-106) and got on base at a .594 clip with a 1.169 OPS. He scored 45 runs, drove in 30 and stole 28 bases. https://www.si.com/high-school/missouri/2025-mlb-draft-meet-the-former-missouri-high-school-baseball-stars-who-were-selected-01k05xvnhxk5 Woulda been nice to get him for sure.
  8. https://www.louisianasports.net/2025/07/22/lsu-signees-jaden-fauske-and-river-hamilton-ink-pro-deals/latest-stories/ - So cool.
  9. I'm so confused by that twitter post. Looks like there's 8 unsigned players.
  10. I wouldn't trade Liranzo and Lee. I was saying one or the other with Jung. I think Jung is done in Detroit...... I'll be shocked if there's a deal done with him not included. I just think he's fallen too far down the totem pole.
  11. Ryan O'Hearn and Max Muncy would be a fraction of the cost and same production....... But I'd love to get O'Hearn. Something like Lirazono for him.
  12. Come on. Take a swig of Jack Daniels and throw out your guess at least.
  13. K. Eugene Suarez. Whats your offer for him? Jung, + Liranzo or Lee I think would get it done. Thoughts?
  14. What deals would you want? I don't think the Dodgers can match what the Phillies could offer. Their farm system is a lot more barren than it has been in years. (At least until their really young guys start shooting up rankings). I'd literally take Andrew Painter over the top 3 LAD prospects for any player. Painter has a fantastic chance of being 95% of Paul Skenes. Dodgers don't have a lot right now that'd move the needle the way the Phillies can. Maybe, maybe if they built something around Dalton Rushing +. But even then, I like Painter and the PHillies prospects more than the Dodgers... and it's not even particularly close.
  15. I'm not necessarily saying they'd re-invest the money. I was just saying they could if that money was free. Hypothetically next year, Skubal and Painter look something like this: Skubal: 18-7 2.25 ERA/ 1.05 WHIP/ 28 quality Starts Painter: 12-8 3.00 ERA/ 1.12 WHIP/ 24 Quality Starts Really worth 40 million diff there? I don't think so. But Like I said, if the Phillies offered Painter, Crawford and Abel for Skubal, you do it. Painter has a heck of a shot at being at least 85% of what Skubal is. I'd rather have Painter, Crawford and Abel for the next 10 years than just Skubal. Regardless of the money. If we let Skubal walk for a draft pick, then I'd be very disappointed in Harris. The smart play is to deal him this off season. ESPECIALLY if we do win the WS this year (And I'm not sure we'll even get there). Sure do hope so though.
  16. I think there's a difference from having nice things and having Skubal. Skubal is a perennial cy young candidate. But the question is, for how much longer. I'd rather not pay a SP 40 million+/year when you can get a guy that will give you 85%+ quality starts for 15-20 million a year. Let the dumb teams spend 40 million, you get 85% of the production for 15 and then spread the other 35 million on position players that help you every day. You come out on top every time. Now if Skubal signs for 30 million its a different story. But he's not going to..... We can have nice things, but spend on the nice things that help you every day, not every 5th. Not to mention if he does have a bad game, you're spending 40 million dollars a year to have 10 days (1/3 of a month) of unproductive ball players. No ones perfect, I get that. But one bad game is literally 1/3 of a month for starters...... Rough. I'd rather have a hitter have two or three bad games and be great eight or seven out of the 10 games.... Just my opinion.
  17. Scuse my language. But someone needs to tell this pussy to put his pads on and play like a man. Dude signed a contract, gave his word that he'd play for a specified time for the amount of money HE AGREED UPON! He needs to play his contract out then go after a new one. Lions should sue him for being an ahole. I get that this is what happens. But if a dude signs a contract, he should know wtf the definition of a contract is. Man up Ahole Anzalone.
  18. I'd say 65% of Red Wings fans want to fire Yzerman for the wings sucking. They were left with NOTHING after mortgaging their future for so long. Of course it's going to take time to rebuild. Now in Yzerman's defense, the draft gods (no blasphmetic pun intended, heaven forgive me please) were not with him. How many times has he been shafted when the draft literally determines the future of your team 80% of the time? Red wings mortgaged the future now people hate the dude that is trying his hardest to fix the organization. Harris, if he lets Skubal walk for 1 pick instead of 3 top prospects, will set the Tigers back like the Red Wings have been set back. Maybe not as drastically since the Tigers have a great farm system. But still, there's so much more value then trading him. Even if they do keep him, realistically they get 2-3 good years. You really want to commit 40 million dollars for 8 to 10 years for 2 or 3 good years? Come on now. Like someone said before, we got him for his prime, let someone else pay for his decline. If we can get Painter for Skubal and others, its a no brainer. You hope Skubal gives you a chance to win 1 out of every 5 days. I'd rather commit 40 million to a position player that helps me win 5 out of 5 days and spend 20 million on a pitcher that's 85% as good as Skubal.........
  19. How's that working for the Red Wings fans lol
  20. I'm totally fine with trading him this off season for a teams top two prospects and some throw ins. Especially if one is a top 5 pitcher. If the Phillies offer Painter, Crawford and Abel for Skubal, you do it. Skubal may be the best pitcher. But if he gives up 2 ER a game (on average) and Painter gives up 2ER or 3 ER, and you save 30 million a season for five years that you can use to produce more WAR for another position player, you do it. You win more in the long run. Its EXTREMELY rare for a pitcher to pitch Cy young worthy after the age of 34..... Lets get a 22 year old to anchor our rotation, a LF to solidify our OF and a #3-4 starter to help Mize, Jobe and Hamm going forward. If Harris lets Skubal walk for a draft pick, it will be a catastrophe just like the Angels letting Ohtani walk.
  21. How's that working out for the Angels w/ Shoehei...... If we were smart, we'd deal Skubs this winter....
  22. Either that 3B coach should be fired or the player should be cut from team. Thats just stupid af right there......
  23. Crazy part is his peripherals look decent too.... Almost career norms. He's not even getting hit hard. Just like the worst luck in world maybe? https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/tommy-kahnle-592454?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  24. I just think its fun to guess what a trade could be..... Or what an armchair GM would propose. Guess I'm alone lol.
  25. JC. What do you think it'd cost for Alcantara or Keller? I wasn't saying Jung alone. Alcantara's stock is plumetting even after tonights debacle. I think Jung + a B level prospect would probably get Alcantara or Jung + Hamm just for Keller... I still think my first trade proposal is pretty much even for the 3 of Hayes, Bednar and Keller.......
