I don't know..one the one hand, committing the $$ needed to keep Skubal seems like a poor investment, ( unless he turns out to be in the Verlander/Clemens/Randy Johnson model of pitching effectively for a a long time) especially if you can get a very nice haul in exchange for him. On the other, trading him sends a message that you can't keep the talent you develop...that you can't have nice things. Only New York and LA get to develop and keep mega stars.

No idea..I was being facetious..unless he signs..then I'm an absolute genius

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread

On the plus side...Alex Lange pitched a scoreless inning for the Hens on Saturday. No hits with a walj and a K. On the downside Matt Manning gave up 2 runs in an inning and a third. He has an ERA over 6 at AAA -

Don't count out DT Lopez as a week on starter

Reed is a hard worker...but the Knicks series showed how we need a bench big with some bulk. Once Stew went don we were cooked on the interior
-
Weird that he has Oliveto above Yost...but then it's only 8 vs 7.

I think his performance in juniors and the evaluations by scouts had a lot more to do with Cossa getting picked than his size. I get that the end of the season and playoffs were shaky in GR...but that whole team had issues. Dating back to his run in Jrs and three pro seasons his worst save % is .911.

ESPN analysis says Leys is likely to reach the majors 1st of all our drft picks. CALL HIM UP NOW!!
-
Unless someone knocks our socks off with a great deal..I'm not looking to trade Cossa now. The smartest thing to do with him is have him start in GR and bring him up later as Gibson's back up. Then you can see if you need to move on from him if he fails. I know you're an Augustine slappy...but he's further behind Cossa at this point and I see little reason in his background to date to think he's measurably better than Cossa as a prospect. They spent a 1st round pick on Cossa and a few years developing him..yes..those are sunk costs, but I think the better proposition from a value standpoint is to see if he's what he thought he was when you drafted him. Trading him now makes very little sense
-
If someone reaches out and makes an offer you can't refuse for Cossa..of course you would have to consider it. Given the near constant state of flux we've been in with that position...I am not shopping any of our young goalies until we know what we have. I'm beginning to think that we aren't going to be governed by a Larkin/Cat timeline. More like a Seider/Raymond/Kasperwhomever else emerges window as signing FA will be difficult with so many teams having so much cap space and our drafting position will be so "meh" unless we tumble downward again.
-
Moot point...no way Philly makes that deal. But no..I'm not interested in trading our closest to NHL ready goalie when our situation is that unstable between the pipes. Stevie seems to be banking a lot on where the team will be when his kids finally show up here...trading our top goalie prospect kinda flies in the face of that
-
I vaguely recall being impressed by Jenkins in summer league last year.
-
Grand Rapids on the whole ended the year poorly. We have two goalies over 30 and only one of them is signed beyond this season. under those circumstance..No way in hell am I trading a young goalie who's had a generally successful jr and minor pro career.
-
IIRC...Wheeler has never been a Cossa guy

69-50 is a .579 winning %. If they had posted that % all season they would have won 94 games and still won the AL east -
Have a number of C and IF prospects in the system. No real hurry on either of these guys
