I did the free trial back in June or whenever it was, the first time the Tigers were on it, then I forgot to cancel before a rebill... just checked, I'm good until Sept 30. I've heard great things about their shows.... but there's just too much TV to watch. I can't keep up.
-
You guys are talking over my head about things I don't concern myself with.... but how does the Tigers use of the opener situation cloud the ability to do these projections? They don't know who's going to be pitching those games as opposed to having an idea that the starter in a normal rotation probably goes 5+. Does that fit in?

meanwhile Trump/Vance rallies are held in storage units to give off a certain percpetion. "Look, they're crammed in, there's so many people. So many people. The mostest."

Here the flags and banners for gaza and palestine are about equal to election signs. Cars are decorated. My impression is Sterling Heights is mostly Chaldean so they probably don't care about it to the same degree, if at all.

ESPN only exists as league PR mouthpieces and gambling.

it's such a weird mixture.... and I think part of their conflict is the fact that Harris a woman. To many outsiders, arab/muslim votesrs are "arab/muslim". It goes beyond that. You have Lebanese, Syrian, Yemeni, Iraqi, Iranian.... how long have their families been here? Are they sunni/shia, or some other branch? It gets very tribal and I've seen neighbors argue over it. Recently there was some festival for a son of Muhammad and they were going at it like Irish Catholics and Protestants. So you combine that with the election: The Vote Uncommitted Group will not endorse Harris but will actively work to make sure Trump isn't elected... ok? What does that mean? And a lot of the Arab/Muslim voters do like Trump because they're rich (You should see the houses being built here) and don't care about Palestine or Gaza... yeah they might pay lip service to it, but at the end of the day its all about money. This is a culture that thinks taxes and interest are nearly sins. Everything is cash only and they operate outside of the system whenever they can. You see an abundance of "Dealer" and "In Transit - Repair" plates in Dearborn.... that way you get out of certain regristraton and insurance requirements. A dentist was shot and killed for working out of his basement and in a money dispute with a patient. Why go the real dentist and deal with insurance and all that? Just go see "a guy" that a cousin told him about.

She’s 31. He’s 69 So gross. On his part as much as hers. She should be exiled from the industry. That’s why women face such crap. Everywhere.

Mario was fine. Jason is unique and I think it's a love it or leave it guy. They're different types of workers. Mario was a professional who could step into any other team's booth or sport's booth and not skip a beat.

Let's use this thread for the Cleveland/MN game... Manzardo HR gives the guardians a 1-0 lead.
-
The problem with chasing Baltimore is that they play Minnesota for the final 3 games. So you need to build up a decent enough lead over MN, in just the next 6 games, to soften the cushion to balance out their wins against Baltimore. You'd need to not only win and have them lose but the right combination of those wins/losses... or else MN gets that spot and not us.

don't be silly. That idea only exists so that white christian evangelicals don't have to see any weird Hindu stuff in their lives. They don't want any L Ron Hubbard crazy talk interfering with their stories about Arks and 7 day creations and Dinosaurs lived with man talk.

and too many people in that world are sympathetic to their suffering. There's a fundraiser in Dearborn at the giant Mosque for the victims. I get that innocent people died in this. That's tragic. But those people aren't the only ones this fundraiser is for. They see the members of hezbollah as victims too. They'll always have cheerleaders because.... Israel.

And it’s fun not having big guys clogging up the bases. I keep bringing up the Giants as a model and this team reminds me of them. guys who can run the bases and play defense.

I thought it was deeper than it was.

Where was the LF on that ball?

It is. I can’t believe how bad this guy is. He knows he is bad and just doesn’t care. He’s smart enough to understand the analogies fail. And I think spouses are fair game. Underage kids definitely are not. Adult kids are if they engage.

I wouldn't be unhappy because I've already assessed the rest of the season to be gravy. But I think losing hurts their chances quite a bit given they play Baltimore on the road this weekend. Of course, a loss today followed by taking 2 or 3 this weekend negates that somewhat. I want them to go into the final homestand just a game back. If it's 2 or more, I don't like their chances. At that point you may need sweeps by Detroit and MN's opponent. Come Friday, the teams are evened up on games remaining with a trio of 3 game series. You win 2/3 and they lose 2/3, that's a game gained. If they are 2 back in the standings come Friday.... that's kind of a big ask. I want next weekends series with Chicago to be one where the Tigers have their fate in their hands

It was just a week ago after beating Coloradio the first two games with Skoob going Thursday that a sweep seemed certain.

I hate Cleveland fans, if that makes sense, because of the mid 90's when they would flood Tiger Stadium. But the organization? I don't harbor much ill will toward them. They run it well. I sympathize with the White Sox a little bit because I hate the Cubs and the whole frat boy thing they embody. "What's the score dude?" is the stereotype of a Cubs fan. I think if I were from Chicago I'd have been a Sox fan. To be a Sox fan means you are probably a baseball fan, not just a bandwagoner. The Twins? 1987 and 2009... The Royals? As I said.... if htey hadn't won the WS in 2015 I'd not care about them.

During the meat of the season I'm all in on "just win the series", it adds up over time. But now we have 10 games left to make up ground. Whether it's 2 or 3 games is out of the Tigers hands as MN has to play 11 more. So you need every win. It's like trying to lose weight to be healthy but now trying to lose weight to make weight for a wrestling match. When the media says they're only 1.5 games out, that's technically true, but in a postseason sense they are 2.5 out. That's the important number. It dosn't matter if they tie or finish a few games back. They don't make the playoffs.

regarding insurance... shop around. When you get a good deal, or at least one you can live with the best, pay attention. Especially if you do automatic withdrawls. They bank on you not really noticing small increases, then they sneak a 10% in there. It's like cable used to be 10-15 years ago. Stay on top of them. I dropped one company 7 years ago when my insurance would have doubled, I added my son and another car, but still.... now they are after me again to come back at a rate the same as I pay now. I've been through 4 companies throughout this time. My employer makes it easy to switch as they have a program with a benefits provider where I just tell them I want to switch, they call everybody that participates, then come back to me with the quotes, I pick what I want, then they do the rest. Takes me less than 30 minutes of phone time.

I was shocked when I looked it up. 3 winning seasons in 20 years. Further, from 1995-2023, outside of their run in 2013-2015, they had one winning season, 83 wins in 2003. That's 29 years. 7 100+ loss seasons.
