what isn't shown it the FB release vs this other pitches. If the change moved the FB release closer to his other pitches, that could be a big deal in itself. Difference in release point is one way batters pick up what is coming so being able to throw all your pitchers from the same "key hole" as Jim would say, makes you more effective across the board.
Subarus are put together like tanks - also in Indiana. Subaru has a complex in Lafayette and used to build for Toyota there but I believe Toyota now builds in it's own Indiana facility., (as well as the plant in Tenn) as Subaru sales grew to absorb their plant's full capacity.
I guess I care less about service time manipulation than whether he handles breaking balls any better this time around, which we are about to find out....
IIRC, when they picked up Kelly they were hoping as distance increased from the wrist injury he might recover some of the bat he showed early in his career.
The one thing that is absolutely true is that a bad bullpen will make any manager look like an idiot, and the Tigers BP is trending bad.
Regardless of both the love fest and the pitchforks, I'll still hold that despite his skills in many areas which I do appreciate - I still haven't seen any evidence in three years to make me think he's the guy I want running the hitting program.
It’s also yesterday’s news. With every pitcher trying to steal 1st pitch strikes, the reality has changed and you have to adapt. You can’t give away freebies and put yourself in a hole 0-1. It’s always great not to swing at bad pitches, but you have to make that consistent with being aggressive on strikes and somewhere that has broken down with this team. … except for Riley. They could all take a lesson there.
Big defeat for Brit Tories. Labour projected to take a 170 seat majority in the House of Commons.
I'll take the over on Britain being back in the EU before the Tories win another national election.
I think they are going to have to press Montero into full time starting duty the way they did with Olson last year and hope they get lucky again. And of course if Mize's hammy is anything less than minor, they'll still need to keep starting Maeda.
LH shots have probably had to play the wrong side somewhere along the way since teams are chronically short of RH shots. But I wouldn't think many RH shots are as prepared to play the wrong side.
Manning’s stuff seems to run hot and cold, he can’t reproduce what he does when he pitches well with any consistency. I guess we have to hope that mechanics tweaking gets him there. There was a nice stretch last yr before the last injury when he seemed to have it figured out but he hasn’t gotten back to that since.
In the end , evidence can make a difference. Biden has to get out there and defy the narrative. If he does, he kills two birds with one stone, because he will invalidate future negative speculation as well. But he has to act.
If he tries to slide by with “this too shall pass” I’ll be much more worried that it’s his presidency that will doing the passing.
I wish I could be more optimistic about what Tork is doing at Toledo. It’s looking like it’s going to be a slow process at best. /…sigh…/
OTOH, Parker continues to rake, which is nice to see.
Even if in some world this is a logical outcome, do you really think the org will walk back the moves they made to put them where they are? Let me just say I’ll be surprised if it came to pass.
By that time they’ve also had a hundred coaches give them conflicting advice about hundreds of things. The fact that a player ignores or rejects a lot coaching doesn’t have to say he’s unserious, just that he has likely already spent his life sifting through what he believes works for him may be justifiably skeptical of any teams theories de jure, even if it may be good stuff. Its especially hard to prove that to guys until you have success to point to. The tigers actually have some of that kind of cred on the pitching, have zero on the hitting side.
