  1. total waste of time remote
  2. Jack better keep away from too many more 3-2s
  3. Lets be fair here though - are you comparing apple to oranges? I don't remember Bernie's complaint in 2016 being that elections were not honest, but that the overall delegate selection process put him behind the eight ball to Clinton before the process even started. To me that's a complaint that the rules were not fair, not that the rules were broken (which is what Trump claims across the board when he loses), and those are two different things. The rules, whether Bernie liked them them or not, were the result of a legitimate intraparty process. The rules may indeed have been created to bias the party toward Clinton, but that was ultimately the party's prerogative - primaries are a party process.
  4. An NFL season is so much about the attrition. You start the season with a handful of teams with enough talent to win the SB (which the Lions were last season and will be this season) and whoever suffers the fewest critical injuries is the most likely winner.
  5. The elevation of McKinstrey's game has gone a long way to reduce the deficit of not having Vierling, but who knows how long Zach will stay at the level he's playing - in fact he's already come down to earth a good deal since May 1.
  6. IIRC he said something like: "I put my glove away for the season" or something like that when he was asked to go to 1st, so I wouldn't be surprised.
  7. The ICC will exhume and prosecute his corpse in 2045.
  8. That's interesting to know - I wouldn't have guessed it. How the heck does MI elect 7 GOP House members while Dems are winning statewide without Wayne county? Voters are bizarre, it's no wonder US politics is screwed up - it's us.
  9. this sounds like it leaves basketball in a weird place. As I understand it, distribution of the $21M is not limited to football players, but they aren't putting any new governance in place for other sports that get the money? Or did they just cut Basketball out in the final deal?
  10. I may get my Michigander card revoked - I absolutely never knew that track was Seger.
  11. that's too bad. I think he's become more than good, he's become an anchor out there for them. But its modern salary cap pro sports - a GM has to be balancing the marginal value of every $.
  12. well here's hoping. If Detroit voters don't show up for the Dems with Duggan on the ballot, it's not going to be pretty.
  13. I tend to believe last season was an outlier for Holton. I expect he can pick it up some from where he is now but I really don't expect to see him duplicate 2024 again in his career. Brieske's problem is poor command - there is enough upside in the stuff for him to improve if he can throw more strikes, of course you can say that about half the pitchers that wash out of MLB.
  14. For me, the fact that Duggan is running away from the Democratic Party is probably plenty of 'canary in the coal mine' for anyone looking at the health of the democratic party.
  15. the big thing is this will end the current NIL charade merry-go-round which will make all the schools very happy. Who won't be happy are the schools that can't come up with the $21M. I would guess there might be a couple of schools that will drop out of DIV 1 when this go into effect, but probably not many. Welcome to truly professional college football.
  16. In the US military I would guess more people learn to lead by actually leading than by just issuing orders than most any other place, which certainly doesn't preclude there being a share of little Napoleons there. But those little Napoleon's are just as drawn to the business world and maybe even more to domestic hierarchies like policing. They are a ubiquitous social hazard.
  17. also, Riley's approach is one that profiles better for success against the opposite side as he goes opposite field more and walks more than Carpenter.
  18. They cannot have not heard the critiques of 3 true outcome baseball, and they cannot not know that the baseball is the heart of all three issues (along with how hard pitchers are throwing), so logic would say your supposition is correct. But of course not much about Baseball management is logical, so who knows. Now if they would just try moving the mound back a foot or so in one of the minor leagues, then I'll believe they are starting to figure it out.
  19. good point, and what makes the Trump/Putin dance so odd. Like Trump, Putin is also egotistical and self-aggrandizing and reality is something that is meant to be bent the fit the immediate need, but on the wider scope of motivation, the two men are different. Putin is an idealist - all the things that are important to him are fundamentally conceptual, intellectual. On that score Trump is the ultimate realist, if something doesn't have immediate objective utility to him, or he can't monetize it and put in the the bank, it doesn't exist to him.
  20. yup, it's faster for the player to face home and let the coach tell him to go And of course that is what makes it doubly dumb. The 3b can't be blocking both the 3b coach and the player can he? And the coach is free to move to anywhere he likes to get out of the line of sight of the 3b.
  21. Well, generally speaking I'm willing to forgive it since it went against the Dodgers, but I don't think it's a good precedent otherwise....
  22. Parker added a single to his HR for the evening, but looks like he had no plays in CF.
  23. Whitecaps went into the bottom of the 9th down 2-1. McGonigle got it started with a one hopper over the wall. A walk and infield single later, Pacheco finished it with a walk off GS.
  24. I'd like to see the quote from the rule book that says anyone has a 'right' to a clear view of anything - heck, a baserunner can block an infielder's view of a ground ball right up to where he only has to avoid it hitting him and that's perfectly legal. Any infielder can hide a ball from a runner, deceive him into thinking he has it when he doesn't, etc. That would be a unique exception.
