  1. This I didn't know: https://www.npr.org/2021/04/19/988876722/capitol-police-officer-brian-sicknick-died-of-natural-causes-medical-examiner-ru
  2. The "there was only one death" line was the coup de Gras. We have a full fledged troll on our hands folks!
  3. He followed protocol. https://www.npr.org/2021/08/23/1030354113/capitol-police-officer-ashli-babbitt-riot
  4. Yeah, interesting that more "legit" outlets haven't run with this yet.
  5. A violent mob was breaching a secure area where the vice president was. That cop is a hero. The victim deserved it.
  6. Occam's razor
  7. I can't find anything on that, but it is scheduled after the expiration of the Basic Agreement. The Winter Meetings are put on by MILB, though, and now that MILB is effectively no more after the hostile takeover by MLB, it's possible that may have something to do with a potential cancellation. However, since minor leagues would still plow forward after the CBA, the job fair portion would still be a of benefit to fill the roles needed.
  8. Guy who was a top prospect, struggled in the bigs but has always performed in the minors. Was injured all year this year and didn't play much last year. About to hit minor league free agency after being outrighted by the Angels. Worth a shot on a minor league flier: Franklin Barreto.
  9. This may be because he is low priority roster filler.
  10. I'm fortunate to be in a spot where I can do this and plan for it, but I did something like this last time with one extra caveat. I had saved the cash. This gave me incredible leverage at the dealership. In addition to making good financial sense (cars depreciate, so loans are bad), it allows for a better deal.
  11. Also, the strike zone is 3D. So assuming that is the front of the plate, a curveball is going to have vertical break and spend a lot of time in the strike zone. The umpire does and should have some leeway on balls that don't spend all the time over the plate in or out of the zone. Graphics like above are misleading.
  12. The games are too long. I was ready for bed after the early game.
  13. Okay, you saw that ad too?
  14. He also had lymphoma, which means vaccines may not work that well.
  15. Best thing to do is report that tweet and anybody who amplifies it. Let twitter take it down and apply any strikes it needs to he and Gaetz et. al. The quote tweeters are just giving it fuel.
  16. Thickness of a blend. You get the maximum and miss the valley.
  17. He recently said on his podcast those are two guys from his astros days he is still good friends with and talks to regularly.
  18. What rule in the rulebook says that is not a swing?
  19. Basically... if you take a screenshot of a swing, the odds of it getting the furthest point of the swing are infimitsemial and you are likely seeing something on the way to or on the way. If you are measuring the flange of an aircraft bulkhead that has a blend in it, taking calipers to measure it will take the maximum thickness and miss the blend.
  20. Ah... the aerospace structures repair engineer in me came through. Tough for me to explain via words.
  21. No photo is going to be conclusive. It is a snapshot and given the mechanics of a check swing is likely to be before or after the time the swing changed directions. Kinda like measuring thickness with calipers.
  22. By the way, the answer to my question earlier... here's a sample of some roster moves for free agents this past february: 2/16: Pirates signed Tyler Anderson. Placed Jose Soriano on the 60-day IL 2/16: Marlins signed Adam Duvall. Placed Jeff Brigham on the 60-day IL 2/16: Giants signed Jake McGee. Placed John Brebbia on the 60-day IL 2/16: Rays signed Rich Hill. Placed Colin Poche on the 60-day IL 2/17: Padres signed Mark Melancon. Placed Trey Wingenter on the 60-day IL 2/17: Mariners signed James Paxton. Placed Andres Munoz on the 60-day IL 2/17: Padres signed Keone Kela. Placed Mike Clevinger on the 60-day IL 2/18: Dodgers signed Justin Turner. Placed Caleb Ferguson on the 60-day IL 2/19: Mets signed Taijuan Walker. Placed Noah Syndergaard on the 60-day IL 2/22: Yankees signed Brett Gardner. Placed Luis Severino on the 60-day IL 2/22: Rays signed Chaz Roe. Placed Yonny Chirinos on the 60-day IL. 2/22: Rays signed Collin McHugh. Placed Oliver Drake on the 60-day IL. ..... When spring training starts, teams can stash players on the 60-day IL. They have extra roster space. In this era of extending the roster and shuttling players back and forth, teams are maximizing their 40 man roster. Back-end borderline 40 man roster guys don't really have much offseason value when 40-man roster spots are so precious that teams wait until February to make their free agent moves. That is why if the Tigers trade for somebody like DeJong, it will likely be a reliever or two a ways off.
