  1. As with a lot of things that Kevin is talking about these days, it all comes down to getting the requisite votes - they can only lose 4.
  2. This is a story to watch.... all the attention is on the Freedom Caucus / MTG side, but these guys have leverage too.
  3. Buffalo is a big test... if they were to somehow beat them, though, they do have room for a soft landing with the stretch of games after it. At 4-6 though, it's hard to see them threading that needle... it's theoretically possible, but there isn't much margin for error.
  4. No question... overall 4-6 seems like a fair appraisal with where they are at
  5. You can add the Dallas game to the mix as well. If they score instead of fumbling at the 1...
  6. lol, they pulled away from the game here in the dfw market... Can't remember seeing that in a game where the Lions were leading lol
  7. It felt inevitable that someone would expose the Giants, didn't expect the Lions to be the team to do it lol
  8. He's not even from Maricopa County lol
  9. Clock stopped when he was down to move the chains, it was the right call
  10. Another clear sign that Russia isn't actually losing this war /s
  11. 1000%. Candy is more of a 50/50 proposition and time will tell, but the definition of insanity is running the Castros out there over and over again and expecting different results. They may not be good next year, but it's not gonna be because of any moves they made yesterday. Time to move on and see if there are better options.
  12. I doubt there is any discussion about this, particularly with his hitting struggles and need to improve in that category, but man it would be nice if Torkelson could be slotted in at third base. Feels like that could open more possibilities, even if the options at 1B aren't too much better than 3B. But not gonna happen and probably shouldnt.
  13. I don't love tendering Cisnero, but if there is any team that should value depth in terms of pitching, it's this one. Especially with all the injuries last year. Would have been better to take a flyer on one of the other non-tenders though imo
  14. I wouldnt call the cuts yesterday obvious, fwiw. At least on here given the back and forth discussion about whether it was better to keep Candy or not. What I do think we can conclude so far is that the new guy isn't gonna just fall back on doing the safe thing... it would have been easy and safe (and frankly, the Avila move) to bring back Candy and at least one of the Castros rather than risk having to fill in their spots with someone else. Our expectations as fans should evolve accordingly.
  15. Vosler definitely looks useful
  16. Welker seems interesting...
  17. As far as the Castros are concerned, it was definitely time. We can talk about Willi's potential in theory until we are blue in the face, but at some point, patience has to wear thin.
  18. I think this is right. The reality is that had he been tendered, he would have been earning way more than he was justified based on his performance last year. Even harder to countenance given how subpar he looked in the field as well. I get that he may be projected by models to perform better in 2023 and that the options in free agency aren't great, but I dont blame the Tigers in the least for not just settling on overpaying Candelario out of fear of the unknown. Especially if Harris feels that he isn't a guy for the long term.
  19. There's had to be one of these clowns who wouldn't just concede, didn't there?
  20. I dont see anything in there about inflation or gas prices, Kevin...
  21. Article worth the read... On top of the fact that it leaves questions about whether his numbers were even real or not, he besmirches the name of Bernie Porn, who definitely nailed this race. Can't stand for it!
  22. Good Lord
  23. My biggest problem is that a lot of the more skeptical arguments made against providing support, not necessarily by ewsieg but more on the ends of the horseshoe, tends to couch their skepticism toward providing support or their desire to achieving diplomacy with Putin in some sort of humanitarian concern about the Ukrainians, but which ultimately isn't shared by the almost all actual Ukrainians. You know, the ones actually fighting this war and dying to preserve their ability to self determination and for their identity. As much as the Glenn Greenwald types love to screech about elitism, isn't it also kind of elitist to also advance a narrative that the Ukrainians need to end the war over his concerns about death and destruction when the Ukrainians dying to preserve their country don't actually agree or place the same value on his concerns? Doesn't that matter at all? Put another way, I would rather people be intellectually honest and just say they don't give a **** about Russian imperialism instead of couching their concern in humanitarianism. Because if they cared about the latter, they'd actually listen to the Ukrainians as opposed to just marginalizing their views.
