  1. (Said literally no one)
  2. Its almost as if players are going to struggle when they aren't given consistent ABs
  3. Also, it's mid August and this team is 23 game under .500. I'm not sure "they should have kept him in AAA" carries much weight at this point.
  4. I'm not saying anyone should be called up right now, but if an injury to Baez or Candy or Schoop happens in the next 60 games, who is likely getting the call? I think we all know it is Zach Short.
  5. Zach Short is the poster child for the lack of intellectual curiosity that this org has with trying something new or seeing other guys. Again, I like the guy, but he's 27 years old and it is pretty obvious that they do not see him as a future piece... yet there he is getting random call ups and somehow surviving while D.Hill gets DFA'd. Setting aside Carpenter or even Kreidler who aren't on the 40, you have a guy on the 40 in Brendon Davis who you claimed off waivers from the LA Angels who can play all the same positions (more or less) and probably isn't any worse than Short and is two years younger. It stands to reason you would want to evaluate someone like that who hasn't had 160 ABs in the bigs. Not even saying he's a big leaguer, but can we at least evaluate someone new for a change? But instead, they seem content with riding out the string instead of getting a look at what they have, on or off the 40.
  6. He's a Rule 5 guy. As much as I like the guy, better to put Zack Short out to pasture now and give him a look than later.
  7. Maybe this season could be less "lost" if they could give players who have a 1.050 OPS in AAA a chance to face big league competition so we have an idea whether the production is real or not. Particularly when the team currently has a historically bad offense. It just reeks of a loser mentality to keep up with the status quo.
  8. That homer for Schoop should not even count lol
  9. There ya go, 1 for 1 baby
  10. These young starters will never get the due they deserve. They would be the worst team in baseball without em
  11. 2 homers in 2 games for Izaac Pacheco
  12. Jarvy made a great play for a change. Was not rewarded lol
  13. I just think Detroit sports fans tend to get hung up on old greats taking over the team. No doubt that is amplified by Yzerman, who achieved success in the front office elsewhere, coming home. Salvation for this team is going to come from finding the next Mike Elias. It's not going to come from waiting for a former Detroit great to get the job.
  14. I'm sure it happens in other fan bases, but this obsession with former greats taking over is dumb. The Tigers need someone from a different organization to instill new philosophies. They dont need the past.
  15. Avila didn't smile or look comfortable the entire time as well.
  16. It's a number retirement ceremony, but it's almost doubling as an examination of evidence of Lou's case as a HOF-er
  17. Don't know why the Tigers don't call up JK Simmons more often...
  18. If Tork comes back up and turns it around, 2019 and 2020 will end up being massive improvements over the early Avila years draft-wise Honestly might be some of the better evidence against drafting pitchers early, which has long been a discussion point on the board lol
  19. Tigers are #2 in waiver priority, so they would likely have the opportunity... He's had a bad year and Ks too much, but this team badly needs needs someone who can hit for power. Not just for the rest of this year but next year as well
  20. Normally not a "we need to claim this guy" kinda guy... But I'd take a flyer here
  21. With prospects in particular, I don't even mind the past couple of drafts on paper (although would have preferred they not draft Jobe), but I dont know how realistic it is to assume that anymore than 2-3 guys make it out of either of them under any circumstance. It's not even so much an indictment of the front office or the new player development folks and more of a realization that all of these guys, like Jung or Graham or Jobe or Madden, are still capable of flaming out as they move up the ladder. That happens even to good orgs, let alone this one where success has been elusive.
  22. Dems in... array?
