I'm not going to reiterate this over again as this subject has been beaten to death, other than to say that a lot of Tigers fans may have a slightly inflated view of how the league views AJ Hinch. That's not to say that he isn't well respected or anything, but more to say that the NY Mets aren't firing Buck Showalter or the Dodgers aren't firing Dave Roberts or the Yankees aren't firing Boone all for the opportunity to hire AJ Hinch.

As mentioned earlier, you get into a situation where you have, for the past 9 mo or so, people who are instituting new programs / philosophies that didn't exist in this org before. One imagine that it is not easy to do... it's not unlike an NFL team switching D coordinators and schemes. If you sweep all of those people out, you start from scratch; you basically lose a year or so of a new team instituting their philosophy to get back to where you started. Maybe that doesn't seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but the pedigree and track records of Garko, Ribas, Stroop, etc. etc. seem solid and they come from winning pedigrees. I'm not an expert, but they seem worth keeping around on their record and merit alone, let alone the fact that the place the Tigers find themselves does not fall on them.

I wonder how much improved play among stalled prospects (Wenceel Perez comes to mind) could reflect on new hires or whether that is just an age thing.

Hinch moving upstairs and Lombard managing makes a lot of sense. And even giving Avila some sort of big new job title without much statutory power. But I have no faith in Pizza Jr having the stones for that kinda move

I just think, whatever they do, they have to be careful with some of the hires they made last offseason. Avila has been awful and deserves to lose his job, but that doesn't mean that Garko, Rivas, etc. need to be cleaned out. And, given that those folks have been on the job for six months or so and implementing their program, the last thing you want to do is clear them out and start from scratch. The old hands? They need to go, agreed.

If they do fire Al (I know, they probably wont), they need to figure out a way to do it while keeping some of the people they brought in during the offseason from other organizations (notably the Dodgers). Perhaps even look to the Dodgers for his replacement to bring continuity. But I don't trust that will happen, so why bother speculating lol

Garko hasn't been with the team for more than 6 months.

They've had plenty of embarrassing results this year, but getting your ass kicked and needing to use three position players takes the cake. Whatever it's about, it's probably about time

I've been about as patient as anyone here has been, but yeah, this team is going nowhere fast.

I don't know if they had always been planning on having him on or what, but it strikes me as the kind of thing that gets scheduled to distract from the product on the field. Great guy, knows his stuff.... but it says a lot about the broadcast.

Nothing against the guy because he truly is a genius and knows his shit, but when Tom House is the highlight of your broadcast, the product just sucks.
