Is there a scenario where you would choose a high school arm over a position player? Or is this comment specific to Mayer and his prospects? I would have preferred they picked someone other than Jobe, tbh, but it stands to reason that limiting a specifc profile from your draft philosophy might not be beneficial to a team in the long run.

I'm watching through the replay now and it looks like a conscious decision on their part for sure. With a lot of the success yesterday, there's a serious platoon split with some of these Tigers hitters (Baez, Grossman come to mind, without looking at the #'s, probably TORK! as well) going against lefties versus righties. Add in that Taylor Hearn isn't the best pitcher (and most Ranger fans were ready to bump him from the rotation before this start), it suggests that it may have been the perfect storm for a big offensive day. My question is can they do this against right handed starting pitching? Dane Dunning tomorrow, who is a solid if unspectacular righty, will be a good test. I want to see more before thinking this isnt a dead cat bounce

It's an incredibly small sample size because he doesn't play much, but he has looked from the eye test to be less clueless at the plate than some of the others over the last week or so. But that's not saying much with how awful they have been lol

That's probably most humiliating for Jonathan Schoop... batting behind Haase, Greene and Tork. Ouch!

Grossman is really the only guy that makes sense to DFA... sucks, because I really like the guy, but of the big four strugglers that DTrain mentioned, he's the one that's on the final year of his deal and the one that seems the least likely to right the ship.

I dont know that AJ's presser was all that different than any other presser he has had as manager. For as long as he's been here, the message has always been about winning tomorrow's game. Low key and consistent. The problem here is that message is not working with this ballclub at this time. And when he's challenged by the local media, who has had a marked tone shift over the past week or so as the Tigers have played worse, he doesn't have a lot of answers. And sometimes maybe you do need to challenge a club who is badly underperforming career norms such as this one. Or shake things up, or get guys attention. Maybe Greene entering the mix will shake things up a bit and stir some life into them. But idk, they are in a really awful place right now
