  1. Still find it funny they managed to find a better prospect for Norris than for Fulmer. Wouldn't have guessed that even
  2. His peripherals at Wichita are inflated, but still a FIP of 4.30 or so. The return on 2 months of Fulmer was never gonna be big, but this seems more underwhelming than expected lol. Time to get a different GM.
  3. Still think there's a chance, particularly with the Mets not having acquired any relief yet. If they don't make any moves on Fulmer or Chafin, that's another failure to add to the ledger for Avila.
  4. Where are the Cardinals btw? So much hype over the Juan Soto talks, but they haven't done much of anything
  5. Agree with the general thrust of your comment, although I'm not entirely sure the reliever market is fully settled at this point either.
  6. Good news.... he was on the Mets / Blue Jays radar
  7. Surprised at how quiet Philly has been this deadline.
  8. There always exists the possibility that they are working on a package and some of the pieces were contingent on other things happening.... (ie. Juan Soto deal, Ian Happ/Contreras deals, etc.) But it shouldn't surprise anybody at all that the Tigers, with one of the best bullpens in baseball, are left with all the pieces intact at the end of it. Which would reflect poorly on the General Manager.
  9. You'd think that does it for the Jays.... now waiting on the Mets.
  10. Strike while the iron's hot Al! lol
  11. This is what bothers me the most about the past few years with the Tigers.... as much as we complain about how much the owner of this club will spend or if he'll want to cheap out in certain instances (all well deserved), teams like the A's, Brewers and Rays always seem to manage to field a competitive club in most years without spending even as much as the Tigers will. And that is because they know how to draft, develop and acquire talent. I've been keeping an open-mind on the new player development hires that have happened in the minor leagues and maybe they will make a difference going forward. And certainly that needs to be accounted for as well as the presence of AJ and his staff, who I would like to see stay on as well. But the reality is that the guy at the top has tried and failed for far too long at this and he needs to go.
  12. Assuming he gives consent anyway. He'd be even more well loved (/s) if he managed to tank this one lol
  13. The biggest domino is about to fall
  14. My guess is that chatter is coming from inside the house, not from outside. It's not inconceivable that Joe may not move the needle for teams as much as we think he should. Particularly given that there isn't really a sustained track record of success... for as much as we complain about Soto, at least he's put up more consistent numbers over the years.
  15. Correct, although the Mets are in on both.
  16. My own guess is that the two best suitors for both Chafin and Fulmer are the Mets and Blue Jays respectively, both of whom are angling for players on the Cubs (Ian Happ, Willson Contreras) who in theory could be packaged with relievers as well. One would hope that there would be movement whenever that unwinds, but it's still unsettling that theoretically both teams could resolve their needs without availing themselves of the Tigers BP options. Which could be used as yet another piece of evidence of Al getting played.
  17. All the reporting thus far suggests that there hasn't been much of a market for Jimenez. But who knows, maybe that changes in the next eight hours.
  18. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/08/tigers-trade-rumors-tarik-skubal-andrew-chafin.html Don't know if Petzold has any inside info on this or if it's just speculation, but it is interesting nonetheless.
  19. One of the beat writers suggested that the trade that the Braves was the only offer they were getting for Grossman's services, likely reflecting losing Adam Duvall for the year and being reliant on Eddie Rosario who has poor splits against lefties. Garbage is too hot of a term, but let's not gild the lilly on Grossman's performance either; the fact that there was only one team interested and that he brought back a lottery ticket tells one a lot about how teams view him.
  20. Houston traded Jake Odorizzi for Will Smith last night, which probably reduces odds of a Greg Soto trade one would think
