To that end, I don't know that the strikeouts are the issue so much as the one characteristic that I always associate with the Tigers: hardly ever getting on base via the BB. With this year's team in particular, they do not draw walks at near the clip that the rest of the league does (with exception of the White Sox)

Was it just one graduation? I dont know what Tork's impact to graduation was on FG. Either way, it isn't particularly the fall of the system that bothers me, rankings will fluctuate even for teams percieved to have good farms based on graduations and trades; it's that all these graduations have led to what will likely end up being a 67 win team.

As an aside, one thing that differentiates national baseball media over Tiger fans when discussing this team is the fact that the national folks always seem to state that resources aren't the problem here. Ken Rosenthal even stated it in his much discussed (and praised) article on Avila's tenure. I have my gripes about Chris I and have criticized him when it has seemed necessary. But his problems and Bob Nutting's problems aren't quite the same.

I believe that firing or removing Avila as GM is within the range of actual possibilities for this upcoming offseason. But the fanbase is cynical, not without reason. And it would take that actually happening for people to believe it.

Well, hopefully Chafin's arm doesn't fall off this offseason since we're liable to be back here one year from now needing to deal him. Hopefully with someone else doing the job.

The Robertson trade is a pretty good parallel in terms of the prospect returned relative to performance.

I have nothing against Sawyer Gipson-Long and wish him success in this org. At the very least, that side of the house has Fetter and Co, so maybe they can fix him or turn him into something The ire should be directed at the General Manager. Who had multiple opportunities during past seasons to get more for Fulmer than he did today.
