Sure. But the upshot as I see it is that Carlson et. al will go to great lengths to blame literally anything and everything for these incidents *except* for the availability of weapons. And that is the context that I see his specious ramblings about privilege, social media, porn, video games, etc.
It's not about identifying actual problems or anything like that... it's to muddy the waters to help in running out the clock on this particular news cycle.
Amazing how showing concern to the fanbase over the poor showing on the field tends to be better recieved.
Seems like better PR to me, but whaddaya know
Bob Wojnowski asking one question about the Tigers was not going to detail Lalonde’s press conference.
To the extent the question got any attention, it was because of the answer Chris I gave.
Flores and Madden seem like decent bets... with Madden, I remember one of the Pipeline guys last year on their podcast (can't remember if it was Callis or Mayo) suggesting he could be one of the earliest 2021 draft picks to make the major leagues.
Nothing he has done to date suggests otherwise.
My understanding is that there will be a much more comprehensive rerank in August after the current draft. They kinda qualified this rerank in their accompanying article
They did catch Cleveland at the right time, but in general, they have been playing much better ball since Riley has gotten here. The losses against Boston and losing 2/3 to KC have obscured that to a degree.... the team is better than they were when they started 9-23 and when they were going 13 games without hitting a homer.
This series against Chicago coming up will be a good test.... they have also had a tough stretch, but some good starting pitching scheduled in the series upcoming.
IMO, it's really a case where, had Chris basically said that the results thus far were disappointing but we're working to correct it, it would have generated almost no news.
His response generated far more and, subsequently, was quite negative.
The Reds did take Nick Quintana for Tucker Barnhart, and the Tigers did get Reese Olson for Daniel Norris, so maybe there's hope.
My thought though is that, post deadline, they need to figure out a way to move on.
If there wasn't a legal basis to deny an FOID card, that would clearly suggest an issue with the law more than anything else imo.
And I'm not clear that there are steps that were missed along the way that would have led to that basis. At least from everything I've read to this point.
