  1. Haase just missed that ball for the SF. Not sure why he isn't starting
  2. The headline would have been the exact same as the headline that came with the answer he gave.
  3. Mike Matheny makes all of this way more complicated than he needs to.... especially with this toothless Tigers offense
  4. Gotcha nvm
  5. To be fair, Pineda's injury this time could have happened to any pitcher. Just bad luck. He'll earn his keep if he starts every five days going forward (knock on wood)
  6. Two innings in a row with 2 on, no out... no runs to show for it. Fun times lol
  7. I'm not Phil Nevin by any means, but its a bit aggravating to see Matheny bring Keller back for the 7th when he was losing command like that. Gonna get someone hurt.
  8. Matheny really playing with fire keeping Keller in the game. Tough break for Tork... hope he doesn't go on the IL
  9. Ugh Barnhart... basically an automatic out at this point
  10. Pretty much. Pineda is as advertised at this point... unfortunately, that isn't always gonna work out with an offense like the Tigers lol
  11. Royals really being aggressive versus Pineda so far...
  12. I keep going back to it, but even with him and Mize/Manning, the pitching really isn't the reason they are 29-45. Ideally they would want him back later in the summer when Brieske and Faedo are pushing inning restrictions. But we will see how it plays out.
  13. And he's with his kids. Those were the words that stuck with me.
  14. I honestly can't figure out why people are so hung up on whether he is being paid or not. I have my gripes with this organization. The guy who is currently in the GM seat shouldn't be sitting in it. And the owner? He seems pretty tone deaf to where the fanbase is when they see the standings and see 29-45 listed next to the Tigers. But in terms of how the team handles personnel and treats them, it's between the employer and the employee. Good for him.
  15. I really don't want to speculate too much on this particular case, but again, I do see scenarios where this case could be a lot different than other cases involving other athletes. Either way, I kinda operate from the view that I wouldn't want someone examining my personal life under a microscope in my job, so ERod deserves that same treatment. No matter his fame or salary. It's between him and the team.
  16. I highly doubt Hinch is being kept in the dark on this.
  17. You say that, but with our luck, if they followed the advice of some, they would terminate the contract, he'd sign somewhere else and become the next Isaac Paredes in Tigers lore.
  18. Ive only experienced divorce from the perspective of being a child, but while some divorces can be easy, many of of them can be particularly nasty as well. Particularly when kids are involved, and particularly if they involve other factors (ie. mental issues, abusive behaviors, drugs/alcohol, etc.) I dont know what ERod is going through, but it's the Detroit Tigers choice whether to pay him or not pay him through this time. I have many gripes with how this team handles it's business, this isn't one of them.
  19. The fact that they are paying suggests at least that his reasons are legitimate. Either way, as bad as the look is to some in the fanbase (at least those on social media), they are personal matters and those are bigger than the game; he is fair game for his performance on the field but deserves some level of privacy off of it. Gonna go out on a limb and say we see ERod again this year.
  20. The statement reads like something like you would hear on Bally about this team. Very concerning when the owner is expressing those views. It's not as if he has to throw anyone under the bus of blame anyone in particular for why they are where they are, but just acknowledge that the product on the field isn't what was envisioned and move on from there. The fans aren't idiots, they can see and identify the problems... just message that you see them as well.
  21. Time to kick Al about as far upstairs as possible lol
  22. With the schedule they have coming up, the Tigers have a lot of incentive to get this one in as planned... unless they can convince the Royals to make this one up later in the season.
  23. Most generous reading is that he could be referring to the pitching staff getting some better than expected performances from Brieske, Faedo, Lange, Vest, etc. But that's a wildly out of touch answer when the reason for your failures has been in large part due to the regression of vets and lack of development offensively from younger players ranging from Tork to Vic Reyes.
  24. This is right.... just from last year's draft alone, they have Madden, Dylan Smith and Brant Hurter, who, with how they have performed, all look fairly promising. And Garrett Burhenn, who is still in Lakeland and probably shouldn't be based on his performance and experience level. It is by design, to an extent.. the team sanctioned Road to Detroit podcast had some interview clips with Ryan Garko this week where he said that they aspire to that endless supply of pitching, but I definitely think they are at a point where they can part with one or two of these guys or other prospects (such as Olson or Bergner) if it helps fill these short term positions of need, without it being too much of a burden to the system. But again, the question then becomes what any of those arms bring back on trade, even if they are paired with a bullpen piece.... fans tend to overrate what they can get in return.
  25. Cabrera earns his way back to Erie.... we'll see if he's any more successful this time.
