You can make the argument, with some of the series they have played lately, they have seen a lot of quality pitching lately. Even Barrios, who has been bad this year, has a good track record. But with Chicago and Texas coming to town, if they can't do damage against that level of pitching... (and I have little confidence they will)

It appears to me that his approach is different. Almost like he's picking a quadrant of the plate and not swinging if a pitch is outside or something

Baez wasn't rewarded there, but it's a lot easier to get hittable pitches when you aren't constantly chasing bad pitches out of the zone

Tarik was due for a bad day, but it's the fact that there's little reason for hope that the offense can claw back much of any of the deficit that bothers me

Yeah, that's the thing that is giving me pause... the Tigers approach was good yesterday, but Gausman's splitter wasn't very sharp as well. Having said that, Javy will swing at literally everything if left to his own devices. So it's progress.

Part of me wants to rewatch his ABs today and see if he was doing anything differently or if Gausman, etc. were just too far out of the strikezone to be tempting

This was a very good win today... executed a fairly good game plan against Gausman, even if they didn't score a bunch. And Brieske pitched well enough even with the hard contact.

Offense hasn't done much, but I will give it to them that they've had a decent approach and generally haven't chased much on Gausman's splitter. Gausman may also be a little off today, either way, credit where credit is due
