  1. OK, I'm on the same page with you there
  2. Yeah, I don't see why there's virtue in not being concerned or upset by this ruling. It's gonna have long lasting ramifications.
  3. Boris Johnson, of all people, said that he was appalled by the decision. At a time when even South America and Mexico (comprised of deeply Catholic countries) are easing access restrictions to abortions, we are heading in the other direction.
  4. I actually agree with Bill on this one.... put them on record.
  5. It's not even that there's a lack of solidarity, the majority of the country didn't want this to happen.... it's just that one side of the issue is far more united (and issue driven) than the other. Put another way, there are far more people who vote purely on conservative culture issues than liberal ones. I hate single issue voting as much as the next guy, but that's probably what it takes to actually match or exceed the intensity of the other side of this issue. Sad to say, but it's the reality.
  6. Trust me, I share all the concerns your do.
  7. No thanks. I'll let the circular firing squad resume unabated.
  8. You don't have to play the blame game in order to grieve about the ramifications of this decision.
  9. I don't give a shit what Progressive Twitter is doing. Twitter ain't votes. If the populace is pissed off, they need to vote accordingly.
  10. Well maybe this needs to stop. I don't know what to say, but if people are pissed off about this, they need to look forward and not backward. Looking backward gets you nowhere.
  11. The blame game is old.... if people feel strongly about this, they just need to get out and vote accordingly.
  12. Good Lord, Clarence is a nutjob... Jeebus
  13. Possibly the only fig leaf I've seen so far, although I don't trust Kav at all
  14. Yeah. Pretty much.
  15. Can't wait for the "let's return it to the states" crowd to be come the "let's ban it everywhere" crowd.
  16. A lot of folks downplay what happened in the First Impeachment, saying it wasn't impeachable, etc.... but it's honestly one of the most clear and instructive events as to how Trump operates. And how it's more like what we associate with a Mob Boss than an American President. The parallels between what he asked Zelensky to do with what he himself attempted to have done with the DOJ are hard to miss.
  17. This, but unironically.... it'd be a pretty good hire.
  18. He'll be back for one more year... probably will announce in the offseason, setting up for some tributes at visiting ballparks next year.
  19. I do think the idea of Al being moved into some emeritus role makes sense - I believe he is the oldest GM in baseball and is approaching his mid-60s. EDIT: DD is also around the same age, but does not hold the GM title in Philly (Sam Fuld does)
  20. Is Tony Packo's still the place to go before the game?
  21. Not just the acting DOJ, but basically all the leadership threatened to resign en masses. Its a good point... it's a giant collective action problem and there could be power in numbers. But GOP politicians are a bunch of beta wimps.
  22. It would have been an absolute shit show if they (the administration) didn't back down..... DOJ would have imploded.
