  1. Has there been any word on Candelario and whether this turns into an IL stint? Could end up being the Kody Clemens/Brendon Davis show at 3B lol
  2. Fair point. Either way, point still stands... hard to make macro declarations in the heat of a series like this one.
  3. And yet that could still result in more than 77 wins.
  4. This is all fair, even if we may disagree at points. My only point is that it's hard to make declarative statements about the season or where they may fall in terms of wins and losses purely on the basis of playing the hottest team in baseball who now holds a 39-15 record. Just feels like people are treating the Yankees like they are chopped liver... the Tigers would have been lucky to win 2 out of 3 with how they are playing. Doesn't mean that I'm happy with the level of play, particularly offensively, but let's have some perspective at least
  5. I'm sure I'll be laughed out of the thread for suggesting this, but I think this can still be a 77 win team or better... as bad as the last three games have been, it's still come against a team that is the best and hottest in baseball, who now has a 39-15 record. Now that the Yankees and Dodgers are off the schedule, they won't face a tougher team for the remainder of the year. The pitching has largely held up and will likely continue to hold the ship to some extent, especially as guys like ERod and Pineda come back. But it really comes down to the offense playing up to career averages. They largely have not thus far.
  6. This one really sucks...if they walk out of New York with a win, they basically meet expectations going against a team as good as the Yankees They had a chance but the defense just collapsed. Six outs to win a ballgame, the bullpen did its part, but the defense failed. Obviously wished they would have done more in the 10th offensively, but the game felt lost after they allowed NY to score without a single hit in the 8th
  7. Lol, he'll never get the money he's currentlu owed if he plays like this
  8. When your offense is as bad as there's, it basically forces pitching and defense to get perfect to win. And today, the defense fell short Pretty simple really
  9. We ride him hard, but glad to see him come up with one!
  10. Terrible lol
  11. He definitely should survive the initial round of optioning associated with Meadows coming back
  12. Has Suzyn Waldman called Rony Garcia a AA scrub yet?
  13. Morning baseball and the Tigers offense... ample excuse to drink early and often lol
  14. Fortune favors the bold.... W
  15. A publication called "RedState" calling someone who doesn't agree with its POV liberal? That's about as shocking as the Tigers scoring zero runs today
  16. The Yankees TV broadcast isn't quite as bad, especially with David Cone elevated, he's pretty fair. But yeah, the Yankees oriented media have this tendency to act like the Yankees are entitled to at least 5 runs against pitchers that aren't big names or they haven't heard of and it's sort of ridiculous. Some of it is the Yankees stature, but tbh, some of it is laziness as well... maybe I'm spoiled by Dan Dickerson, but maybe do a little research before the next opponent comes to town... Beau Brieske isn't the best pitcher, but by virtue of what he has shown in the bigs to date, he clearly doesn't belong in AA either.
  17. Play Cameron and Hill in the outfield every single game. Since they are so shorthanded, platoon Clemens and W.Castro. It's not that hard, but Willi's BABIPfest that ended 2+ weeks ago seems to have folks convinced that his bat is useful enough to ignore his inability to play the outfield. I just don't agree.... and looking between the lines, it's pretty clear that it's not happening game after game purely out of desperation. Ill gladly eat crow when Meadows and Greene end up elevated and W.Castro is demoted or not playing outfield. But I'll believe it when I see it.
  18. Come on, really? Sure I'm glad that Willi is happy to play wherever, that doesn't mean that the Tigers should just play him wherever, nor does it absolve Al or AJ or whoever from criticism when the decision doesn't work out. Even with as bad as the offense has been, you can't just put a guy with a .640 OPS in a position he doesn't know how to field. I can't see how to countenance it
  19. With respect, eat it Suzyn
  20. Major kudos to Brieske for this start... not an easy place to play and not an easy lineup to face. And pitched his best game of the year. Too bad he wasn't backed by competent offense
  21. With Vest and Foley pitching as they have been and with Cisnero and Alexander on the way back, Joe oughtta feel a little nervous.
  22. Old Joe makes an appearance at Yankee Stadium this afternoon lol
