  1. Grossman is a Hinch guy, so the chances he gets bounced before his contract is up are zero. But, by that token, his production is killing this team right now. Probably more than everyone else at this particular juncture... and it's hard to see them having a functional offensive without him performing.
  2. It's not that prayers are bad, it's that the constant calls for them ring completely hollow when all that happens are just prayers. It's not that hard to understand, yet we will remain collectively obtuse about it as per yoosh. And the idea that there are "spiritual solutions".... again, we are a country of 330+ million. No "black mirror" style mind control device exists to make everyone perfect and happy. So policy should be crafted around actual problem solving instead of magical thinking.
  3. Guns are actually a case where law enforcement largely falls along the standard liberal position. But, paraphrasing Meat Loaf, "we'll do anything for law enforcement, but we won't do that" lol
  4. I would settle for moral clarity at this point from these pols.... just spare us the talk about "mental health" and "metal detectors" and such and just admit that the gun is more important than the kids. And that the talk is all just a way to wind down the clock until it passes from the collective consciousness. It won't happen, of course, and collectively, we will still take these tropes seriously. We've seen the movie before
  5. After Santa Fe in 2018 (almost four years to the week), Governor Abbott commissioned a report to give recommendations to the State Legislature of things that could be done to help prevent incidences such as these. That report, which included the introduction of a red flag law, which is a pretty basic mental health measure, went untouched for the most part. And since then, as mentioned previously, the state has actually gone further in deregulating firearms. Until I see action on something as simple as a red flag law, it's hard to take any of the calls about "mental health" seriously... instead of the fact that they obviously are a way to kill media newscycle time so nothing changes.
  6. Brad Raffensperger avoiding a runoff feels like a massive L for Trump.
  7. I said it a while ago... AJ wants another Marwin Gonzalez. Unfortunately, Willi can't hit or field like Marwin in his heyday. Probably needs to look somewhere else for that
  8. Something something "orgs tell you what they think of prospects with who they call up" something something. Seriously tho, last year there came a point where they did a changeup a month in, there are things they could do here as well. Willi is the big one... he basically is playing exclusively outfield at this point and not well... I dont see the point.
  9. Seems like Tork's must be high over that span as well. Both him and Schoop went from people begging to get them out of the lineup to being (along with Miggy) the only consistent hitters in the lineup over a short span of time
  10. Well, organizations tell you what they think of players in how they conduct transactions. Then again, this organization is the same one that built a 14-28 ball club that can't hit its way out of a wet paper bag at the moment.
  11. Could Kody Clemens or Brendon Davis be any worse of an option at this point? The BABIP luck is long gone... now he's an automatic out sitting in front of TORK!
  12. Really would have been nice to have Tork up there...
  13. You know it's bad when even Craigger is lobbing criticism at the lineup
  14. Another K for Cy Gray
  15. Call em up!
  16. Sandy Hook meant a lot to me, but it especially means a lot as a young parent of a kid about to enter grade school. These politicians down here care about schools as a vehicle to push culture war BS like CRT, but as far as keeping guns out of schools, they don't give a damn. Unsettling to say the least.
  17. But more armed guards and and arming teachers will fix it... no big.
  18. Translation: "We have to turn our schools into prisons"
  19. Policy is all about dealing with things that are within your control. Guns, at least in theory, are things that can be regulated through policy. Unless there's some "Black Mirror"-style device out there that I dont know about, the human actions of 330+ million people cannot be legislated out of existence. In my state, the one where this event happened, they don't do deal with the things that are within their control (often rescinding regulations, in fact), while paying lip service to the things they can't.
  20. Here's our worthless Attorney General, indicted for securities fraud (who still will, in all likelihood, win his primary tonight) talking about arming teachers. These guys would rather turn every school in America into a fortress than actually do anything related to firearms.
  21. Uvalde is a town of 15,000... not a large place, quite small actually. It's not Houston or Dallas... If the answer here is for every school in towns even as small as Uvalde need armed guards and metal detectors to guard against these events, we are failing as a country. That is failure.
