Their worst starter went today and gave up 4 runs in close to 6 innings, and they are gonna get Alexander back in a week or so. Pineda back in 4 weeks or so. I guess I can see it with a minor league contract and no expectations, but as far as need, they dont need Dallas Keuchel

The game on Saturday was such a stinker, it kinda feels out of place with how they have generally played in the last week or two. They seem like they are playing cleaner better baseball, hopefully it carries forward.

Brieske needs more swing and miss, but that may come with more seasoning. He's holding his own out there

It's sort of a different variation of the "Tigers should trade for Frankie Montas" thing that comes up occasionally around here.... The pitching, even with all the injuries, isn't what is responsible for this record. And for all the injuries to the rotation, it's not like they are wearing out the bullpen... they've had one scheduled BP day so far this year and you can go days at a time without seeing any of the guys in the pen at the moment, except for maybe Lange or Chafin. Just ride with what you have, plug Alexander, Pineda, etc. in when they come back. It isn't that hard.

He's arguably been the best hitter in the infield over the past two weeks as well (including Candy, fwiw) and also was the one who put them in position to win on Friday with the leadoff double. Gotta keep him out there. And if he performs, trade him for a lefty reliever with control issues. 🙂

Its worth adding that the team has a guy who profiles as an innings eater in Big Mike Pineda. Who is, by all accounts, about a month away from returning from injury and is significantly more effective than Keuchel at this point in his career. I'll take my chances with the youngsters and AAAA guys in the system and wait for Pineda to get back over going with Keuchel, whose top line and peripheral stats are some of the worst in the league

Carpenter may be org depth, but he probably needs to be in Toledo at this point. Not sure what he needs to prove in AA
