  1. Oh, The Trop..... Not the best baseball stadium.... but still way better than the old Homerdome was up in Minneapolis!
  2. He's been getting utility sort of play since last year. Doesn't matter, as it appears that Daz is gonna be the callup for the OF spot.
  3. I guess my question comment was more about when would be a realistic time frame to get Pineda back... just the description of the injury and where it occurred makes me think third set, but I'm not an MD. I just think he occupies a critical role in the rotation and, without him, we are kinda hoping that the other two young'uns can eat innings like he can. Candy has been better with the bat for sure, but the defensive lapses aren't helping to make the case that he's a long term solution at the moment.
  4. Mike Drumright.... that's a name I didn't want to be reminded of lol
  5. Is Pineda in the second set? I don't know much about hand fractures or the grade of fracture he had, but it makes me nervous that it's his throwing hand. Out of all the injuries they've had since the season started, his is low-key one of the worst.... the Tigers have thus far been able to avoid the trap of being stuck with bullpen days and have been able to keep their bullpen relatively fresh, but this will test that.
  6. Kody can play both positions that Austin Meadows can, and as an added benefit can man first base (where Tork has struggled a good amount recently). The team seems content with Hill/Willi in CF, and on the outs with Cameron. Seems like a no-brainer to me, even though the consensus seems to be on Cameron coming up.
  7. The articles I've read about the shooting in California indicate have indicated that he was Asian.
  8. Even with them, there's a good argument to adding in the outfield this upcoming offseason (particularly if Grossman walks), but as far as a trade, that seems like it would be a waste.
  9. Makes sense... Binghamton is right on the border
  10. They have done the trade approach as well... the Brewers trading Reese Olson for Daniel Norris comes to mind. (Still blows my mind that they got anything of value for Norris, let alone an above average pitching prospect)
  11. The Jobe pick was risky, I would have went a different direction as well. I just sort of think this conversation about not building around pitching gets too distilled down to "dont draft pitching in the first round". But depending on how your board looks, maybe you have to in some cases.
  12. Yeah, not a chance....
  13. I guess it depends on what "building around" means... are we talking about just not focusing on pitching in the first couple of rounds or just primarily not drafting much pitching at all?
  14. Could finally be Kody Clemens' chance lol
  15. Maybe the most 2022 MLB thing we've seen yet!
  16. Ladies and Gentleman, The Republican Party
  17. The best case scenario would be to just go to 13 pitchers and keep all three. Hill is the least dynamic offensively, but he makes up for it with his speed and defense. He can be useful as a pinch runner late in games as well, as he did occasionally when the big man would get on base late in games last year
  18. Aren't we also talking about an offense that has badly underperformed it's track record as well?
  19. Some of it is luck, the xFIP numbers for some of their relievers and starters show it. But some of the conversations around here about the pitching staff (and how disastrous the situation they find themselves in) seem misplaced given who this team was trotting out last year and given that guys who were off the board (ie. Faedo, Brieske, Wentz) are now options. They arent trotting out Buck Farmer or Derek Holland or Ian Krol these days... the bullpen, even if the peripherals are less rosy than the ERA shows, is much better than in years past. Cisnero and Funkhouser aren't even here, and tbh, I think I'd take Alex Lange/Will Vest over either one of them at this point. And even with the starting pitching stretched as it is, it seems likely that they are going to have significantly less scheduled bullpen games because they have more viable options, even with injury. The offense is a different story, but I watch a lot of baseball, and the Tigers, pitching wise, are far from being in the worst situation compared to the rest of the league.
  20. That's the other option... although having Peralta in the BP at least gives you a longer option in the event of a disaster (today's game being case in point). Maybe Rony Garcia fills that role instead?
