  1. Mentioned this in the broadcast yesterday, but comparing other broadcast teams to ours, it's always night and day. The Astros broadcast, when there is dead air, generally settles on baseball talk (I watch a decent amount of other team broadcasts and find this to be the case as well)... they had a nice discussion at one point about how runs are down across the league and how, for the first time since 2014, no team is averaging more than 5 runs per game at this point. Interesting, didn't know that! With the Tigers team, regardless of which color commentator, you get talk about their golf games and stuff like that. On an individual level, you can tell Shepard is trying to get better, he's somewhat more insightful than in past years. But the broadcast team will always be flawed or poorly ranked against their peers without a more settled situation with the color commentator. In regards to how to handle the color commentator situation, Petry and Monroe seem like their best options. Petry is actually fairly good at the job, seems to be more restrained to chime in when he has insight etc. Monroe's also knows the game well and the excitement, despite being annoying when the Tigers are playing like they currently are, can be an asset to the broadcast. Regarding others, Jack has wore me out at this point... talks too much and always pivots back to the good old days. I do like Gibby more, but obviously there's other issues at play there.
  2. Candy is on the upswing as well... a week ago, we all wanted his head on a spike. Credit where it is due. The homer to tie it will no doubt help his confidence as well. Offensively, they need to put together a complete game. Gotta be able to string hits together... they continue to leave guys out there when they have chances.
  3. I dont know what the data says, but Fulmer seems like the better play in that situation. Especially with the 0 ERA and low xFIP.
  4. Pretty much!
  5. This ain't gonna happen.
  6. Oh my goodness.... Always run kids!
  7. Gotta like that the Astros burned through all their high leverage guys early... if Soto can get out of the 9th that is
  8. They may not win, but that homer felt good...
  9. AJ better be working those phones soon lol
  10. YESSSSSS!!!!
  11. Astros commentators mentioned 34.2 innings without giving up a run. Unstoppable force meets movable object lol
  12. I like that their random discussions are baseball centered... that's missing from the Tiger broadcast
  13. Maldonado is such a throwback to the pitcher batting in the NL lol
  14. They really have an excellent broadcast...
  15. Went fishing for that one...
  16. Skubal is the man.... nice way to cap off a good outing! Doesn't deserve to lose, but will
  17. It's beyond frustrating to be back in the situation where an opponent has a 2run lead with four innings left and the logical conclusion is game over. Feel so bad for Skubal... kid has pitched well enough to be in line for a win.
  18. It wasn't the worst pitch in the world because of where he missed, but he did hang it. Pena deserves a lot of credit for that one
  19. Yeah, that feels like ballgame there
  20. Urquidy is starting to lose it some, feels like you had to get to him there
  21. It actually was... he was more aggressive
  22. Man, Tork just missed that one...
