  1. I will say that as bad as the offense has been, at least it isn't all nine guys sucking wind this time. Leads me to believe it won't last as long
  2. I honestly cannot say he's better than Jacob Barnes or Will Vest at this juncture... Yet he seems gifted a job on this team
  3. Defense aside, I can't understand why you don't put Haase out there for the bat when they are struggling as much as they are on that front.
  4. Run scored, not sure what's being reviewed
  5. Embarrassing throw...
  6. Stellar work for Michael there...
  7. Hutchison was a weird guy to put in at that juncture
  8. Yeah, I'm still having a hard time seeing the Sox not winning the division
  9. Gonna be hilarious when they lose 2-1 because they ran themselves out of the bases loaded early. Two Lionesque games in a row!
  10. They really have hit a ton of at-em balls this year... hope their luck turns around at some point lol
  11. Good Lord, that's disappointing lol
  12. Miggy thought better this time lol
  13. Amazing what happens when you throw more than a fastball... cleaning inning for Eddie
  14. Of course political comedy existed in the past, but it feels different now in that people's identities are tied up in their politics and people turn to politics for entertainment. And I cannot say that is a good thing or something we need more of... the fact that more and more people seem to have turned away from other forms of entertainment in their lives toward being rage farmed by cable news and political punditry hasn't left us any better off, just more divided. This is spot on. I would just add that the decreased lack of physical engagement that has kinda left people siloed off from the rest of the world, and as we have discussed here before, it is so much easier to dehumanize when discussing politics (especially the culture war stuff) whenever you are doing it over the internet versus dealing with someone in person. On a personal and micro level, I've made some changes to my social media diet and media intake diet to change, but I don't know how you can fix that on a macro level... the culture, particularly online, seems addicted to rage
  15. I've detailed my problems with Mahar before (Fife's comment on his trashing of religion is a big factor)... But the other problem that I have with Mahar is the same problem that I have with Rogan, Carlson, Maddow, Oliver or any TV talking head (whether on cable or on HBO) or almost any op-ed writer at this point.... they are paid to push a view point but it is unclear to me why anyone should even care what their views are. The older I get, the more I just want straight news. I can read the A section stories in the local paper or the NYT or Post to get that, or get the equivalent on the local morning news. I dont know what additional insight I'm supposed to gain from Bill Mahar or Rogan or Maddow. Not to mention the countless idiot pundits across the political spectrum pushing Substack subscriptions... the world would probably be better off without the lot of them.
  16. Exactly, Jimmie is definitely past his prime, but he is willing to call out poor play and provide honesty in his analysis. Plus the rapport with DD is pretty good.... hell, they've been doing it together for 25+ years lol I do think C-Mo, in the times I've heard him, seems to be better on the radio with DD than on TV, and is a bit more honest as well. Part of that may be DD's influence / gravitas or how the two broadcasts are administered.
  17. I don't know that the alternative world is one where Garneau would be starting catcher for a full season - stands to reason that Haase would be starting most games without Barnhart. Offensively at least, hard not seeing Haase as less of a black hole. Of course, there is a tradeoff defensively with Haase starting... I know part of the enthusiasm about bringing Barnhart in was his ability to frame pitches, play defense behind the plate and to call a game. But at the end of the day, I'm not sure the Tigers wouldn't have been better off trying to acquire more of a depth option (ie. Luke Maile, Steven Vogt, etc.) versus Barnhart with the idea that he would be everyday starter. Or just live with the situation as it was (ie. Haase, Garneau, Lavarnway, Dingler). It's early though and maybe Barnhart starts progressing toward his mean.... but still can't help the feeling that he's been underwhelming, particularly for a guy for which there was a lot of praise for acquiring and for a guy where extension rumors have been swirling.
  18. And this will be held up as evidence that they aren't enforcing the border
  19. The way the Tigers started this game, they were lucky it wasn't one of those games where Harold Castro would be lobbing ephus pitches at the end. Trying to decide whether that would have been preferable... at least then I would have turned it off instead of having false hope. Lol
  20. Yeah, he's less problematic than others in the lineup at the moment...
  21. Another zero for the bullpen. Where's my 4 runs?
  22. Ardolis Chapman may be involved, so who knows... assuming the bp can keep it where its at
