  1. I dont spend a lot of time in NoVa, but it appears on the surface like there is an expectation (at least from a lot of the political class) that there may be some snapback or reversion in voting patterns up there. If voting behavior is predicated more than anything else on education levels in today's politics, with a region like NoVa, I'll believe it when I see it. In other words, If Youngkin wins, he's probably going to have to do it by holding serve up there and making it ground in other parts of the state. I dont think it'll happen. But we'll see.
  2. I watched for a while last night.... even if they don't make it this year, still get good vibes off of that franchise and the general direction they are headed.
  3. The Senate races will be interesting this year, and not in a good way. Most of the competitive states have good GOP candidates who historically would have a glide path to the nomination, yet the energy is with the Herschel Walker types who would likely not be as strong in a general election environment. Its emblematic of the conundrum the GOP has at the moment... the strong general election candidates struggle to win the primary, the strong primary candidates will likely struggle relative to expectations in the general.
  4. Not a specific instance, but rather that the results of the California Recall did not meet the absolute breathlessness of the mainstream media reporting about it. Almost like the political horserace version of Al Capone's Vault. And I have seen very little post-mortem or introspection since then
  5. Beau Brieske gets onto MLB Pipeline's radar...
  6. Schwarber would be great... they really need someone who can wear out the right field porch at our cavernous park.
  7. Stanley wasn't terribly far off on the starting pitching either. Makes up for his prediction of 2021 being the Year of Vanman haha
  8. Agree with this. To the extent that he's in the mix for next year, it shouldn't be as an everyday player.
  9. Not the highest of the season, but with the 20 degree launch angle, it got out quick
  10. Wow, what was the exit velocity on that bad boy? Damn
  11. Man Lange looks rock solid...
  12. That makes more sense. I just remembered him being optioned. Again, I think he's been somewhat of a trendy darling pick of some national baseball media, which seems misplaced. But having said that, I doubt he is removed from the 40 and believe he will be competing for a roster spot next year, as a bench guy.
  13. Its WAR night at Bally Sports lol
  14. I dont recall Victor Reyes being DFA'd. But I'd have to go back and look at the transactions to be sure.
  15. Schoop adding onto his 11 game hitting streak...
  16. Sure. But what are the odds that someone is gonna give the right value for Mize? The price oughtta be very high.
  17. I do think that Reyes has gotten some overly generous praise in national media (Mike Petriello from MLB.com in particular). Having said that, people who follow the team more often seem more level headed on his outlook.
  18. I haven't really seen anyone here suggest that Reyes is anything more than in competition for a roster spot next spring. But maybe I missed someone suggesting otherwise.
  19. The controllability thing seems important.... aside from looking like a promising future top-of-rotation pitcher, Mize is young and under team control for a while. Someone should have to unload *a lot* of assets to acquire him during this offseason, and I doubt that anyone would meet that price tbh.
  20. Maybe they can try Daniel Norris out in the set up role?
  21. Does Lynn speak with any authority on this, or is this just Lynn's opinion? That's the biggest problem I have with his Twitter ramblings.... I have no idea whether he's actually plugged in or whether he's just shooting from the hip. In any event, trading Mize would be a highly questionable proposition.... If you go down that road, *maybe* Manning, but sure as hell not Mize.
  22. The nexus of his take (which is seen in a previous tweet he shared just before this one - perhaps I should have posted for context) is that he basically believes that Correa and Seager are off the table, leaving Story as the only possible option he likes to fill the hole at SS while providing more offense. I think you're completely right on this - it's fair to suggest that Greene and Tork will have struggles, but it's a low bar to provide more offense than Willi or Niko. But even more importantly, it's not like a hitting SS is the only need here - they actually *need* starting pitching. How the **** does trading Mize help when you need to add starters?
  23. Lynn is crazy.... it would be idiotic to deal Mize
