Seriously, a 1 page game thread. We used to have a one page GDT the day before a game. Yes, there's a new web site. Yes, there's other social media now. But if the Tigers were winning and in 1st place, we would have at least a dozen pages. At least!
In the past, with many franchises, a new GM comes in and isn't loyal to players he didn't draft. Tork has been given 1 1/2 years to show what he can do. Unless he gets hot for an extended period in the 2nd half, I could see Harris moving on from him. He didn't draft Tork...
The scary thing is last year and early this season, our pitching kept us in games. Now, the pitching seems to be faltering. Maybe it's the pressure of having to be perfect because of our inept offense? Pitchers know giving up a few runs means a sure loss?
The Tigers put an importance on "controlling the strike zone". While this may work while pitching, other teams have caught on to our hitting tendencies. Taking pitches trying to get ahead in the count? Good individual idea but when every player tries it, other teams just pound the strike zone. That puts us in a lot of 0-2 counts. And looking at BA in regards to the count, hitters don't fare well after falling behind. It's not a good team hitting strategy. Just my opinion.
Keeping trying to find a diamond in the rough. Eventually you will. If not this season, next season. If not next season, the season after. Shoulda just paid Candelario. <ducks>
True. I remember when a member would do play by play for ones who couldn't follow any other way. Long before the advancement from the GameDay option with the MLB app. Which is great, BTW. 😁
I remember the good old days when we would have a 20 page GDT for every game. Heck, we would have a 10 page thread on days off. Interest is waning....good job, Chris, nobody cares anymore.
They reacted that way because we didn't have a player to replace him. The job was handed to Scott Sizemore who wasn't a capable fielder or hitter. We could have brought him up in September to see what he could do but we didn't.
Not going to happen anytime soon. Signing quality free agents isn't in the Harris playbook. He doesn't even retain arbitration eligible players if they get too expensive. This franchise is a mess that will take many years to actually contend. We <may> challenge for a weak division title but that's very misleading. We'll see this off-season when Miggy and Schoop come off the books. Spend that money to improve the team? Or save that money to increase the bottom line for Chris?
