    Maybe so but those old videos of an old Ruth makes it look like an old shell of himself. Sad looking, like Cabrera looks. Hall of Fame players going out like that is sad. Look how Ortiz and Pujols went out. Left good memories for the fans. Miggy is just here for the $$, which he should already have plenty of. Pride? I guess not so much?

    Miggy is in his farewell tour and isn't going anywhere. But yeah, he's just a shell of his former self. Kinda sad to watch, it reminds me of old video of Babe Ruth playing for the St Louis Browns, or whoever.....

    True. But even when his balls in play weren't dropping, he was crushing the ball. Maybe a doubles hitter with HR power? Either way, he was having some pretty bad babip luck.

    What if he's a streaky hitter and this is his hot days? I could be OK with that as long as his cold days are pretty short. We....just don't know yet.

    And all those regular season victories were made meaningless. Why even play a regular season? Put every team into a playoff pool and draw straws for HFA. Make it really exciting....yawn.

    I agree. It's bad enough that we have so many teams with not enough great players to go around. There are players making ungodly amounts of money in MLB that wouldn't even make Toledo's roster back in baseball's glory years.

    It makes the 162 game season meaningless, other than home field advantage. I think we all agree, it's about the money. A team 20 games out if 1st place on July 1st suddenly finds themselves 1 game out of a diluted talented artifical race. Fans buy tickets, merchandise and the TV networks sign a billion dollar deal with the league.

    Artificial race for the division. Whoever wins this division will just get swept away in the 1st round of the playoffs. MLB had to break teams into 6 divisions just to keep fans interested. Pretty soon we'll have 10 divisions with 3 teams in each division. Won't that be fun, every team playing meaningful games into October?

    He wasn't good enough for the Tigers. Just think of all the money we're saving. We would probably be in first place with him on the team. Maybe when Miggy's contract comes off the books we'll sign a couple quality players? Yeah, I don't think so either.
