  1. The Packers are 42 million dollars over the cap. The Bucs are 11 million over. The argument in the Free Press this morning was the better teams find creative ways around the cap.
  2. Show me a team that leads the league in turnovers and made the playoffs. In the history of any football.
  3. This post is an instant classic. I'm out of likes so I'll just say it...I approve of this remark.
  4. With the signing of Walker, maybe we won't be tempted to taking a safety at #2. I've read there hasn't been many safeties taken that early in the draft. Getting consistent pressure on the opposing QB can make our secondary look much better and also create more turnovers.
  5. Yeah gotta admit though, Fontes was never boring. Always had a quote that fired the fans up. But looking back on it, that took pressure off the players. The Big Buck..lol
  6. Plus, if we improve our offense, it won't put as much stress on the defense. Field position and time of possession are under-rated stats. Remember Wayne Fontes firing Mouse Davis because we were "scoring too quick?" Lmao
  7. Releasing Flowers will give them some cap room.
  8. Sounds like a winner and high character guy; https://www.yahoo.com/now/young-dj-chark-saved-dad-155039504.html
  9. What are ya, a pirate? 🤣🤣
  10. I don't mean to bring up politics in a baseball thread but I just learned....the Lions signed a WR. <ducks>
  11. Remember Leyland hitting Kelly in the 2 hole, in the playoffs AT Yankee stadium? And then looking like a genius when Donny hit a 1st inning HR? Or was that just a dream?
  12. Walker was playing very good ball last year. He was hitting very hard. And then hitting even harder. I would say it was very important keeping him. Very glad we kept him. A++
  13. Just need to cut out the rotten parts. We need to find a Donny "Baseball" Kelly type. Or a Ryan Rayburn type. 😁
  14. Sign Freddie Freeman and trade Torkelson to Cincy for their entire pitching staff...lol Or...trade Clemens for Castillo, straight up.
  15. Yeah, apples to oranges. Throw out last season, first 40 games or not. We're a totally different team. Kinda like comparing our 2005 team to our 2006 team.
  16. People who are predicting their record based on last season.
  17. I've read that championship teams are built by being strong up the middle. Look at the upgrades we made at catcher and SS. And if Greene is a ROY candidate, we're going to be very, very good. Then we have the young pitchers with a years experience under their belts. So I don't understand people judging us by our record last year, especially the first 6 weeks when Hinch was learning what his players were capable of. The Tigers are a team on the rise and it shouldn't surprise any "experts" when we make the playoffs.
  18. 90-72. Win the division.
  19. And the Braves extended him. 8 years for 168M. Just how much was Freddie Freeman asking for?
  20. I would bet your last dollar that they'll finish over .500. 😁😁
  21. Give up major prospect(s) for 2 years of him? A very hard pass. Maybe a couple AA players? Ugh...I hate trading possible quality players. I say pass...
  22. I agree. It just..no...such a bad rule. I mean, I get the reasoning, trying to squeeze 162 games without playing until mid-November but people who don't like the DH have to hate this.
  23. Maybe going back to starting a runner on 2nd base of extra inning games. I don't like it...
  24. Yeah and he would eat innings. But I just wouldn't give up too much for him.
  25. I've never watched Castillo pitch but looking at his stats, they aren't really impressive. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/castilu02.shtml
