I feel the same way. That essentially what happened in 2006. The team came out on fire for the first 100 games or so, and the was kind of mediocre until the playoffs. Thats the rewards for building such a large lead, it gives you the cushion for the drop off.

If team strength was rated on a scale of 1-10, I'd rather be an 7 for multiple years than a 10 for a year or 2. I think it's more enjoyable, and you have a better chance of winning the WS by making the playoffs more times than making the playoffs fewer times with a better team.
