Skenes pitched 6 shutout innings today va LAD. His yearly era dropped sub 2. In 53 career starts his career era is sub 2, and his whip is sub 1. I don't recall any pitcher in my lifetime coming out of the gate so strong. Maybe Gooden, who was a star at age 19. Seaver was excellent right away. Clemens by year 3. Vida Blue had that incredible first full season. But imho it's between Skenes and Doc Gooden. I enjoy watching Skenes' starts every time.
With the broadcast staff changes it seems they're trying to target a younger audience. Us old fogies will stay no matter what.
The last couple times Benetti has been paired with Dirks, it's been a bit less off script. They've likely received some feedback.
Houston beat the Yanks. They are 3.5 behind Detroit for first round bye. Alvarez is healthy now. Went 4-4 today.
ChiSox are playing better. Detroit needs to take that series.
Last year Holton, Hurter and Brieske could go multiple innings and work hi leverage situations, starting with the August run. Their bullpen was a true strength.
They did just bring up Melton. He is a starter being used in the pen now, but I suspect he'll be in the rotation at some point. Hamm is struggling more this season. Madden is still out. Harris may go back to drafting pitchers higher. Who knows. There are no top 100 arms after Melton.
KC could be set for several years on the left side of their infield. Garcia and Whitt Jr were born less than 4 months apart. This year Garcia is near 5 war and Whitt Jr 6.
