  1. I'm thinking similar. Harris will probably add 2 mid FA. I'm actually hoping Verlander is one of them, but I doubt it happens. SF wants him to stay put.
  2. RIP Mike Greenwell. Early in his career I thought he was going to be a superstar. Still had an excellent career. Battled thyroid cancer and passed this week.
  3. Baseball always has its ups and downs, but this season has been crazy. Extremes for most every team, even the contenders. Toronto and Milwaukee seem to have avoided the extreme lows, and they also happen to be 2 teams that don't strike out so frequently. I love the Tigers. I hope Friday is another celebration
  4. The Finnegan double play was huuuge. The M's were up 2 and could have blown it wide open. He came in with bases loaded and no outs, and held them to 1 run.
  5. I was mentally prepared for the season to end. Now I am enjoying a stogie and awaiting Friday
  6. It's 50/50 imho, with Skubal on the mound. On to game 5!
  7. I hear Motzart's Requiem playing faintly in the distance........
  8. That's a great way to frame what they're missing. It seems a lot of teams are missing that, even ones with more stars. There were so many extended losing streaks this year, even amongst the top tier teams. Maybe hitting (in general) is still adjusting to the fact that most every team has pitchers that throw 99mph and/or have a 2500+ spin rate. It has become a different game. I heard Trout talk about this.
  9. I agree. When it flipped to fs2 I took a nap
  10. Lately I've been thinking that a percentage of Aug 2024 to Aug 2025 was a mirage. Harris helped put together a Giants team with several short term contracts, and they unexpectedly won 107 games in 2021. They lost to the Dodgers in the NLDS. The next year the Giants went 81-81. They've been sub .500 since. Maybe Steve Phillips is right, typically a contender needs an everyday superstar. Cleveland has Ramirez. KC has Whitt Jr. Detroit does have Skubal, but Greene is the only position player that is in the "star" convo. Teams win without a superstar. Takes plenty of good fortune. Even with a superstar. Now watch the Tigers win the next 2
  11. Same for me. I've watched that game many times. 1976 was one long Christmas for me, at 10 years old
  12. 2nd fiddle to the big boys
  13. Likely not. But if they can win tomorrow, they have Skubal and have a chance. Flawed team. One note shot
  14. Judge just hit a HR and that game is 6-6. He is 11-21 this post season and media is blaming him.
  15. Glad I didn't pay the extra for fs2.
  16. I wasn't aware that he pitched 11-inning complete games in consecutive starts. All of those complete games likely made him vulnerable to injury
  17. So to continue watching I have to add fs2 and it will cost $15. Think I'll pass and follow online
  18. The fox banter is painful to watch. Someone please wake me up when the game starts. And talk with Illitch about a retractable roof
  19. Rain during the playoffs usually means Verlander is scheduled to pitch
  20. Excellent video about Fidrych by writer Jeff Pearlman
  21. Best wishes to him and his wife. I have to say I'm happy about that. He seems to rake against the Tigers
  22. Brewers up 2 games to 0. Counsell jumped too soon.
  23. I hate the Dodgers
  24. Hard to be a baseball fan
