  1. I usually judge by shoe size
  2. I can see a team like Chicago WS or Colorado claiming him.
  3. Yeah, can see that Rogers will still be getting plenty of time, but Dingler is fast becoming #1
  4. Wow, I just saw the box score. Too busy today to even follow it online. Can't wait to watch it this eve
  5. Norris' stiff leg landing looked unorthodox and stressful. Morris commented on it often. And Fulmer's delivery looked like it was straining. I recall his rookie year Rosenthal commented that he is an injury waiting to happen. I said "eff you" out loud to the TV, but he was correct. Boyd has had the best career of the pitchers Detroit brought in
  6. With Skubal I'd see it more like 11/400, starting a year before he hits FA. Takes him to age 39. Huge risk. Don't see Harris going there.
  7. Chase Lee called up to the big show https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/04/tigers-promote-chase-lee-for-mlb-debut.html
  8. That's Cleveland. They've been doing what Harris has built in Detroit for many years. Their development just keeps coming
  9. With all that Detroit has coming up, I would think at this point they are a desired destination if money is market rate. That said, Boros will convince Skubal to wait, unless an offer starts with a 4.
  10. I enjoy this team over the 2012-14 teams. A more enjoyable brand of baseball.
  11. Weaver is probably my favorite non-Tigers manager. There are some great YouTube clips of him in action
  12. Kreidler optioned to Toledo, it's Jung time again!
  13. This guy scored one heckuva baseball card collection from 1952-1956 https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/fabulous-50s-find-rhode-island-dealer-buys-stunning-lot-of-1950s-topps-cards/
  14. Chipper Jones recently said he would hit .200 in today's game. I'm sure he would have adjusted and performed better than that, but it emphasizes how much better pitching has become. When Chipper was drafted 1-1 the Tigers held the 2nd pick and took Tony Clark. They were so close to getting Chipper
  15. Thinking about Matt Manning brought up a random memory of Pat Underwood's impressive start to his career in 1979. His first start was televised - went 8.1 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 1 bb. I remember it well, and being so excited thinking he could be the ace that takes over for Fidrych. Won his first 5 decisions. Ended 1979 6-4. Over the next 4 years he went 7-14 to finish his career 13-18 and was out of MLB at age 26. I believe he had arm injuries. Also brought up thoughts of Steve Searcy, Justin Thompson, Eric King, Jeff Robinson, Joel Zuzana........Amadeus, gumby and pokey, kc and the sunshine band.....had a client no-show and my mind drifts......
  16. Mantle told a story about an all-star game and Ted Williams gave him a lot of specific advice on hitting. Mantle said he tried it and went 0-20, so he just went back to trying to barrel up every ball
  17. I will always hate the Yankees. And the Red Sox. And now the Dodgers.
  18. I had such hi hopes for him. Hope he finds a niche, likely in the bullpen. Had similar hopes for Steve Searcy many moons ago.
  19. Tigers dodged a huge bullet! Then AA turned to Javy and payroll took one in the chest
  20. Had a random memory this am. I remembered Steve Kemp being called up from aaa Evansville in 1976. I was 10 and already a stat geek. His stat line at Evansville was insane. I just looked and didn't realize he was drafted 1-1. In 52 games in aaa he hit .386 with an ops of 1.203. Had he not suffered the injuries later he would have put up some very good numbers. I wasn't thrilled when Detroit traded him for Lemon, but clearly that worked out hugely in Detroit's favor. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=kemp--001ste Then later that year the Pistons got Marvin "bad news" Barnes (rip) from the ABA. I had even higher expectations, but that one didn't pan out.
  21. What a great baseball day! Tigers win, and both the Dodgers and Yankees blow leads in the 9th and lose on walk-off home runs. Is this Christmas!?
