  1. Whatever happened to Casper Wells? I heard he was friendly but a little spooky.
  2. Very cool about Mickey! I have a friend who shot pool with Fidrych, said he was very friendly. I played high school basketball with Loy Vaught
  3. I think Max Clark will be bringing similar spirit when he arrives
  4. I realize it's largely injury related, but too much of the position player roster seems AAAAish to me. I'm hopeful for 85 wins, but won't be surprised by 75. If pitching, Greene and Carpenter stay healthy, more likely closer to 85.
  5. I once played checkers with Mickey Stanley at his place near the Thornapple River. I was friends with one of his nephews
  6. That sounds about right. Detroit's strength is obviously pitching. Hopefully 5 years from now that looks much different
  7. Trailing 7-0 into the 9th, Philly scores 8 to win. Means nothing, but always get a little joy when the Yankees take a punch https://www.espn.com/mlb/game/_/gameId/401704569/phillies-yankees
  8. Drummond again showing love for the Pistons and Cade. I looked up his stats and he is only 31. That seems crazy to me. He's been in the league 32 years https://www.si.com/nba/pistons/news/former-detroit-pistons-star-shows-love-cade-cunningham-01jpv4az14m5
  9. Only people over 50 would get that
  10. Through 5, Greene with a dinger. Tork 2-2 and a bb. Mize gave up 2 in 4.2
  11. Nothing against Craig, but his voice always seems as if he has a frog in his throat. Like nails on a chalkboard to me. Since I have mlb.tv I would watch the opposing team's broadcasts. Shep and Monroe were just plain annoying to me. As were Shep and Morris. I thought they sucked, and was not surprised when Detroit's broadcasts were rated inferior. I like Gibby, but I don't think he fits as an analyst commentator. God speed to him. Keep him around. He is an iconic Tiger
  12. Jung optioned to Toledo after a 4-33 spring. So it's likely Ibanez and McKinstry at 3rd to start the year
  13. But yesterday the moon was blood red. Coincidence?
  14. What's Jacoby Jones up to? Victor Reyes? I'm obviously joking but I did look up Reyes and he had 202 hits, 111 RBI and a .905 ops in KBO last year.
  15. Who jinxed the Meadows family? Take it back!
  16. My father had a scrapbook of the 1955 Tigers so I learned about Bertoria over 50 years ago. My brother snagged the scrapbook and has it now. I used to collect cards of the players in the scrapbook, including Tiger opponents. A '55 topps bertoria was one of them. I remember liking the name Bullet Bob Turley so I had several of his cards.
  17. I believe I heard this on the Tigers territory podcast about a month ago - that Harris expects 2 top-100 prospects to consider trading Tork. So better than the haul they got for Flaherty. I don't see any team offering that
  18. Dave Kingman, there's a name from the past! Iirc only player to hit home runs for 4 different teams (2 NL and 2 AL) in the same season, 1977. I'd take that career for Tork. 400+ HR
  19. Also signing LB Grant Stuard to a 1 yr deal. I'm not familiar with him
  20. Plus he turned 21 this season. He's shown enough improvement this season to warrant a top half of nba center salary imho. With his passing and ball handling skill I believe he has begun to show a higher ceiling. If Det doesn't pay him someone will
  21. Looks like Rams are releasing Kupp. I know edge needs to be addressed, but I love Kupp's toughness and he might come fairly cheap
  22. I agree, good memories of Magic and Kelser. And Blaha seems more animated. It's been a tough decade for Detroit sports, but a new era is starting
  23. With his rapport with Cade and his ball handling and passing abilities blossoming, they need to keep him. He is a big part of the core imho. Plus, what is he, 21?
  24. On AZ boards they're bummed to lose Lopez and call him a "Campbell type of player." Looks like nice pickup. Brad seems to be banking on the draft for an edge
