Yep, crazy. The Angels swept them in 2 series in the past month. 1-11 vs Det and LAA to mess up their playoff hopes. Baseball is such a maddening game at times

1962 Mets winning %: .250 2024 ChiSox winning % with 40 games to go: .238

If they can stay healthy, big if, a line-up that includes Carp, Greene and Keith could start to resemble an actual decent MLB offense. I also like Malloy's potential to be an .800+ ops guy, but as a dh. He has excellent plate discipline and can drive the ball to all fields. Hopefully the years of having a AAAA offense are coming to a close. Then Jung, Clark etc should be ready the next few years

Crazy good start for both

I'm still sad he passed away. He had such an impact on me during his very brief career. Somewhere the Bird is pitching to Tony Conigliaro in a field of dreams

I'd like to see Dirks get more games with Benetti.

Now that's speaking my language right there! Great memories

Was gonna post the same thing. Basically a AAAA team and Colt and Parker. Very small core, no decent depth. After 7 years it is disappointing. I get it. Avila inherited an aging, slow, huge payroll team. I do see brighter days ahead, but no sure thing. At some point they need to add a couple bats.

The OF at the end included Mckinstry, Valide and Madrid. I would think several AAA teams have a better OF trio than that. Not going to expect many wins with the current squad. I had that gnawing thought all game that the Giants would pull it out.

I hadn't heard about Jaden Hamm until recently. Sounds like a promising pitcher https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hamm--000jad

Meadows isn't going to let that happen again. He's elite in the field. I hope he can hit .240 with 20-25 dingers and a handful of stolen bases, and take care of CF for the next decade.

He has Conner Griffen at 33 and Rainer out of top 100.

It an haiku at best

Guessing anyone here age 55+ will remember this throw by Dave Parker

Speaking of the Tigers 19 game losing streak in 1975, I was able to figure out which game I was at. Loss #16 in a row, vs the Rangers on 8/11/75. For decades I tried to figure out the game where I saw first-baseman Jack Pierce drop a foul pop up right by first base. A ball most any little leaguer could have caught. Turns out that error was during this streak. Top of 8th, Toby Harrah popped up foul against Tom Walker. Pierce just dropped it. I can still see it. I don't think he had to move 10 feet. Just dropped the darn thing. Found this site, gives play by play for games that far back https://www.backtobaseball.com/game/DET197508110/detroit-tigers/versus/texas-rangers/1975/august/11/lineups-and-summary/

On a positive note, Hurter looked good. Toledo stats were not good, but prior stops were decent .
-
Clark 2-3. Only 37 at-bats in A+ but he just keeps ripping with avg up to .405 and overall avg for the year is up to .300

My family went to a game in that streak, I believe it was vs the Angels. I tolerated the loss because Tiger Stadium was heaven on earth to me. I swear I could smell wahoo Crawford's urine.....but later I realized it was likely the drunk dude behind me.

Very fun game to watch. Love all that Meadows can bring. He's like 6'5" and that full-stretch catch was one of the best I've seen in many years. Watching Dodgers vs As now. That Flaherty fella is pretty good. Like to see the Tigers add some pitchers like him

Good to stay hopeful, but that list is out of 600+ prospects traded. And it depends on how one defines "impact player." I'm usually more able to see potential and stay positive. Having a bit of fan fatigue right now and that's clouding my optimism.

2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason

Bottom quadrant for far too long. Comtemplating writing a book of haiku to describe life as a Detroit sports fan over the past decade -
One of my first Tigers memories. I was 6 years old.

Right now they have 8th worst record. Have a hunch Toronto will pass them up and they'll be 7th or perhaps worse. Really sucks that once again I start thinking mostly about the draft pick. I have rebuild fatigue. -
He got into an all-star zone post all-star game last season. He seems to be in another zone right now. Ripping the ball. Extreme streak hitter. I don't know.....regardless, it's good to see him making consistent, hard contact again

I have a T206 Merkle. He has a glove in the pic, not a bat. Can't tell if he is bonerfide
