  1. After several years of bottom dwelling in all 4 Detroit sports, good times are definitely back, better than ever because it's spearheaded by the Lions. Cade has such incredible body control. When he is near the basket he's able to work around and through the D, including rim protectors. He almost reminds me of Adrian Dantley with pg skills and perimeter touch. In the Spurs game Avery Johnson called him a maestro
  2. With the 3 batter minimum, lefty specialists are not in as hi of a demand as they once were. Still, hard to believe no team wanted to give him a contract. I agree, nice signing
  3. Unfortunately the 87 sets aren't worth very much, factory sealed typically go for about $40. If one of the sets is the "tiffany" set, that's more rare and worth closer to $400. Cards from the mid 80s to mid 90s were overproduced. You can still find boxes and packs at most flea markets.
  4. Too many card sets to track these days imho. Give me 1956 topps any day
  5. Manning is a future Rays all-star.
  6. On Tigers Territory today Cody Stavenhagen talked about Jobe. Cody is in Lakeland and is seeing the workouts up close. He said Jackson's new curve is crazy. He said his stuff is elite and he's above where Skubal was in the same place in his development. I hope his pitching session shows up on youtube. Would love to see that. Cody isn't a homer. He stays objective imho. He believes he is so good, Harris and AJ will have to bring him up with the team out of ST. Imagine the front end of the rotation if guys can stay healthy!
  7. I lived in Seattle from 1992-2000 and went to a few hundred Mariners games. Always tried to go when Randy Johnson pitch still the nastiest pitcher I ever saw in person. I was actually at Nolan Ryan's last game when he blew out his arm. Yes, Griffey owned that town. People were shocked when he wanted to leave for Cinncy.
  8. The Red Wings tried to get Salma Hayek to advertise and boost octopus sales
  9. This past election I did a write-in and voted for Pedro
  10. I might still have a Charles O Finley orange baseball somewhere. At least Oakland gave us those.
  11. Watched that about an hour ago. Should be a nice ride over the next several years
  12. FG seems to value the power tool the most
  13. On Foul Territory AJ Pierzynski said the same. He said you don't want to piss off Devers who has 10 years left on his contract, and Bregman might only be there a year. The other guys disagreed and said you field your best team, period. Cora will have fun managing this
  14. Eric Munson - there's a name from the past. 3rd overall pick. Had hi hopes for him.
  15. Jeimer has had some good stretches
  16. Originally intended for the lollipop guild league
  17. Cubs sign Dixon Machado to minors deal - haven't heard that name in years. 522 lifetime plate appearances, ops+ = 57 https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/machadi01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&utm_campaign=2025-02-14_br
  18. I like red meat in moderation (gout), did not shower today (I did wash) and long for spectacles because my glasses frame has a stripped screw. But I'm not going to read the article based on your input. Danka
  19. Read that with deferred salary Bregman's AAV is calculated as 31.7 mil per
  20. If they stand pat and stay mostly healthy, I believe they can contend in the Central. Add major injuries, especially to the few key bats that they have, then I believe it's doubtful. A lot went right down the stretch last season. I think I like Jace's chances more than most of you. He is a gamer. He'll put in any needed extra time. I believe he'll figure it out. Maybe remain a below average fielder, but I think he is going to hit and scrap and do little things that help them win. He has that grit. And a cool last name (I'm a mental health professional)
  21. Per Passan the 3/120 contains "significant deferred money." He just didn't want to come to Detroit. Onward and upward with a little sideways.......
  22. I agree. Per multiple sources Detroit's offer was ~6/170. He was holding out to see if one of the other teams would trump that. Instead he took the Boston offer. The tea leaves tell me Det had to go 7/200 to have a shot at him.
  23. I did see an unknown amount is deferred.
  24. Of course it's great for Bregman. Unless he has a great year he's not opting out though.
  25. 3/120, wow. His lifetime ops at fenway is 1.200, so there's that. But wow
