  1. This was the shot. Here's the chaser:
  2. He could've kissed up to them without comparing them superlatively to us! 😅
  3. And here's eight minutes about this "controversy", eight minutes of your life you'll never get back if you watch this: Remember when Megyn Kelly wanted to be a mainstream media star? Thank god Donald pulled her back to the dark side before she could get her blood coming out of wherever all over us.
  4. I don't think that makes Phillies fans more a part of that organization than we are. I don't mind him praising Phillies fans. I think he should. It's just the comparison of them to us fans he just left. I think that stings just a little. Not a lot. But some. Ultimately not a big deal.
  5. And Nick was here for almost ten years. Plus, Avila publicly disrespected Nick's trade value, so i have a soft spot for Nick because of that.
  6. Asking the analytically-minded hurler about the metrics on his cutter elicited a response that was preceded by a pregnant pause. “I hate trying compare myself to this guy,” said Jobe. “I don’t think there’s been anybody like him, and I’m nowhere close to being who he is, but my cutter is pretty similar to Jacob deGrom’s slider at times. When it’s good, I throw it at 93 [mph] with negative-two horizontal and four vert. Like I said, on paper. Obviously, he does a fantastic job of locating his. It’s not just metrics that make a pitch good, it’s how you use it. My goal is to one day be anywhere as talented as he is.” Yeah, I like this kid.
  7. What would be the proper term for this? "Postjection"? Also, lol "sic"
  8. I think our sticking with the Tigers through times as thin as the last seven years makes us pretty damn good fans.
  9. I hear ya, although it's not like he said what great fans Phillie fans are, period. He made the comparative against fans of the other teams he was with. Not comparative of the organization—comparative of the fans. Meaning us. We're not as good as Phillies fans. So ... ouch.
  10. https://6abc.com/michael-lorenzen-no-hitter-philadelphia-phillies-pitcher/13625546/ "It was incredible. Walking out for the seventh, eighth and ninth, man, these fans. I've never been part of an organization where fans are a part of the team," Lorenzen said. "And they gave me that boost that I needed. ... If you are feeling fatigued, you don't feel it at all in front of these fans." Ouch.
  11. That said, he said it in the most unconvincing way … kind of under his breath and trailing off, ending with the word “frankly”, as if he didn’t really believe himself while saying it …
  12. I like piling on the guy as much as anyone, but upon repeated plays, it sounds to me like he might be saying, “I could have been relaxing at Mar-a-Lago, or in the south of France, which, I would prefer being in this country, frankly”, which could be taken to mean America. Which I could totally see, because it would be easier for him to destroy America from the inside rather than outside.
  13. “Oh, hey, Paul, that is you. Yeah, nice gag. Good to see you again.”
  14. Tied with Robin Yount for 19th all-time in hits.So glad to see Miggy going out with more of a bang.
  15. Sarah Langs is the best.
  16. Let us know how that comes out! 😉
  17. Yes, but not every team has to rely on it as much as bad teams do.
  18. I can’t express strongly enough how sad this makes me. I knew him not only as a player and a broadcaster, but as my Fantasy Camp team coach (along with Johnny Grubb) in 2008. He was a great guy, never a sharp word or tone that I ever saw, easy to talk to. Rode in a car with him and Rusty Kuntz and learned some interesting things I will never forget. He was a true gentleman. RIP Jim.
  19. Edwin Jackson might have been the best return of all of these, pitching over 200 All-Star innings for us, and we did flip him as the second piece of the three-teamer that returned Austin Jackson and Max Scherzer, a trade he was definitely competitive on.
  20. Also, Eugenio Suarez, Robbie Ray, and Avisail Garcia, who are all in the middle of good big league careers right now. Might as well add to the list Cody Ross, Jair Jurrjens, Matt Joyce, Curt Casali, Corey Knebel, Jose Alvarez, and Devon Travis, all of whom had success at the big league level with other organizations, some quite a bit, after we traded them for either rentals or garbage. This is not to say that Dombrowski never made any trades that he won—I won't add Cameron Maybin or Andrew Miller to this list for obvious reasons—but it's not as though he kept all the good prospects and traded away only the flotsam. His record is mixed, at best, probably in line with other GMs of similar stature.
  21. God I can't wait until we no longer have to troll the wire for somebody anybody.
  22. I could see college-age women being far more likely to vote than college-age men, if for no other reason than the abortion issue, which is certainly a clear and present issue for them.
  23. My recollection is that WJR wanted a younger, cheaper option than Ernie, and Bo basically volunteered to run interference for them, perhaps since they were instrumental in constructing Bo's hagiography in the first place and he felt somewhat beholden to them. EDIT: I see everybody posting after me spooled out the details and they match up with how I remember it, including that it was 100% Jim Long. Based on my one encounter with him, I totally feel him as the guy would be behind it.
