  1. So Trump just said he's going to Russia on Friday to see Putin. 😬
  2. I have two IRA's with Vanguard and I just don't see them doing anything stupid that would put my money at risk.
  3. Has a team in contention for the post season ever traded a superstar they knew wouldn't be returning to the team the following season? Imagine if we get to the trade deadline next year and the Tigers are leading the division. Is there any chance the Tigers would trade Skubal to a NL team if the return was good enough? Sounds wild, but imagine a team being willing to give you a couple top prospects.
  4. I was thinking more like the Bregman situation. Once the details of the Tigers offer were made public, I don't know anyone who was still howling about not signing him.
  5. Why is there almost no news about the head of the IRS getting canned? There has to be something there and I'm guessing it has to do with Trump wanting access to something and being told no.
  6. I think the Tigers have to make the offer or the fan base is going to go nuts. If the Tigers offer him 8/300 and he turns it down, I think most fans are going to accept that they did all they could to try and keep him.
  7. Did Javy tweak something? Looked like a grimace as he was running home.
  8. The most I could ever see the Tigers offering Skubal would be 8 years/300 million and that even seems like a stretch. If he stays healthy and continues putting up the stats, I see one of the big market teams giving him 10 years/400 million so I don't think there's a chance in hell the Tigers retain his services beyond next season.
  9. Biggest win of the season so far.
  10. Watching the replay, his head really snapped back. Hopefully he just got knocked cold and they're taking extra precautions due to it being a head/neck impact.
  11. Leyland has looked the same for the last 40 years.
  12. I don't get why MLB doesn't have someone come out with a tablet between innings to show the ump any problematic calls. Seems like it would help the umps and they would probably even appreciate the input.
  13. Calling it now, if the Tigers lose tonight, they lose the division.
  14. The Comedy Central executives have to be sweating. 🤣
  15. Absolutely the politicians shouldn't have a say, I've already said that. As for the lawyers, there's no way that's ever going to happen and these maps are always going to be challenged in court. Just another reason to support my idea of eliminating congressional districts all together. 🤔
  16. The Texas map sucks and they want to make it suck even more, I'm not defending what they're doing at all. My point has been that independent redistricting doesn't seem to really work, at least in California's case. We seem to be doing pretty well with it in Michigan but I think in our case, there isn't nearly as much overlap of Democrat and Republican voters and there are a lot fewer pieces of pie to cut up.
  17. Funny that this explanation of the job numbers being revised showed up on Fox Business but not the main site from what I can find. https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/why-does-labor-department-revise-jobs-reports-here-three-reasons
  18. We've got the same record as the Yankees since the All-Star break, 7-11. Luckily we've still got a 7 game lead in the division while the Yankees are half a game away from being out of the playoffs.
  19. There are 12 with a spread of less than 5 points and 5 of those are Republican leaning seats. In total, there are 13 seats in the state that Republicans have a shot at winning and only 3 of them are +7 or more in favor of Republicans. Democrats have 35 districts that are at least a +7 and most of them are +18 or greater. Basically Democrats are guaranteed to win 67% of the seats before a vote is cast.
  20. This just pisses me off.
  21. Using Michigan as an example, maybe you have people vote for 5 people from the party of their choosing. Doesn't need to be ranked choice as you've already declared the party you want representing you. Once the votes are tallied and the state knows the split, they take the top vote getters to fill the seats. Obviously this is just a silly idea I came up with, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. I've already mentioned how this would give every person in the state the representation they want, but there's also another benefit. Lets say you have an issue or concern and need to reach out to a Rep. You have the option of contacting the Rep you think can best help you or who will be most receptive to your concerns.
  22. Everyone goes to the polls and votes as to which party they want representing them. At the same time, they vote for reps from that party. After all the votes are counted, you look at the results and select the reps to represent each side. People would then end up with a team of representatives. That's a better solution than having a single representative that you don't support.
  23. Sure you do and you'd still be able to do that by voting for reps of the party you support. Right now it's all about which people they want to throw you in with and call it a district. I'd say this is infinitely worse.
