  1. I had absolutely no idea that this happened on a regular basis. Thank you so much for sharing this. @lordstanleyyou rock!
  2. Brewers win. I’m supposing “the media“ will try to make this as a David versus Goliath story but the Brewers have been pretty good so I think they stand a good chance of felling Goliath.
  3. So are they gonna fire hitting coaches or something because they can’t fire the players? Is it customary to wait until after the World Series to do this? I’m not calling for this, but I am honestly curious.
  4. I guess Dan won’t make it into heaven now with Karen but who would want to be there with her anyway?
  5. He thought he was off mic. It is now one of my favorite baseball memories.
  6. A part of me likes the Brewers because I don’t feel any particular allegiance to the American League any longer given all the interleague play and I love interleague play. But I don’t care enough to actually watch any games with the Brewers.
  7. Dan’s off the cuff remark brings me joy. Everyone feels this way.
  8. I don’t enjoy national broadcasts either.
  9. I honestly have no skin in the game about what happens after this. Other teams mean nothing to me. I don’t “love the game“ as much as I simply love the Tigers because because they became a part of my fantasy world alter ego when I was eight years old and they made me feel stronger than I really was then and they still do now. When I root for the Tigers, I am actually rooting for that feckless, impish, innocent part of myself that continues to believe that something good can happen in this world and that I can be included in it. That’s not a feeling or sense of identity I can readily or willingly subvert. I think there’s a certain grown-up wisdom involved in this even though it seems kind of childish on the surface. It is what it is.
  10. Thanks for doing this Lee.
  11. I’m kind of grateful the season is over. A baseball season is like a lifespan with ups and downs, excitement disappointments, victories, and defeats, but when it ends there’s a sort of peacefulness about it and also there’s another one to come. I’m grateful for what they gave us early on and disappointed about the way it ended, but I’m not disappointed about the lifespan of this season itself. It’s generally more excitement than I could generate on my lonesome.
  12. They also only won 88 games which was eight fewer than the year before and scored, fewer runs. And were swept in the world series. Basically adding him did not appreciably improve the team.
  13. Congratulations to the American League Champion Toronto Blue Jays, who will fall to whomever the National League champions are in the World Series.
  14. I find it hard to believe that one bat could’ve made that much of a difference. I remember when the Tigers added Prince Fielder to an already strong lineup and if memory serves me right it was like throwing a quarter cup of water into a full bathtub. It didn’t raise the level much.
  15. At least it wasn’t an error.
  16. Loss. i’m not angry. I’m beyond being disappointed. I’m glad I could share this season with people who share the same affliction and affection from which I suffer so greatly. As Tiny Tim says, God bless us all
  17. This is the game that never ends It just goes 'round and 'round, my friends Some people started playing it Not knowing what it was And we continue playing it forever just because…
  18. Look up in the sky! It’s a bird. It’s a plane, no, it’s changeup man.
  19. I saw the best bats of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through inning after inning at dawn looking for an angry fix… angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night,
  20. I hope this game isn’t preempting reruns of the Jeffersons or something
  21. Whoever wins this game, they probably don’t deserve to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays. And they probably couldn’t anyway.
  22. I’m giving up, I have given up on giving up and I’m giving up some more.
  23. AJ isn’t doing any of his cutesy stuff lifting a guy for a pinch hitter in a situation this time
