  1. I figured it out. I know what’s wrong. We are cursed. AI Overview Yes, Detroit is built on land that includes Indigenous burial mounds, specifically the Springwells Mound Group and the Fort Wayne Mound. These mounds date back centuries, predating the French settlement of Detroit in 1701. The mounds were used by various Native American groups for burials and ceremonies. While some mounds were destroyed during development, others have been recognized as sacred sites and are being reclaimed by Native American tribes.
  2. Torkelson coming through when the pressure is off.
  3. I could be mistaken, but that’s the kind of play that Riley has made in the past. I don’t know if he lost the ball somehow or what.
  4. Max Scherzer’s the starting pitcher for Toronto on Sunday.
  5. There’s a lot of data out there and unless you’re the Colorado Rockies everybody combs over it and they’re starting to figure out how to deal with the tigers so there’s always that and they have to make adjustments. But I get the feeling also that this is just one of those bad spells all the best teams have gone through this year and this is our turn. I don’t think we’ll get back to being a .667 club but they will right the ship. There’s no way they played 130+ games so well and that it was all just luck.
  6. Jake Rogers has a better ERA in blowouts at least than a lot of our regular relief staff does.
  7. I hope this punishment is one of those “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” sort of things.
  8. I think I’ll watch a Jason Statham revenge film to take the edge off of this game and just check in periodically. Good luck to us all.
  9. And another one reaches the seats
  10. At the rate we’re going it might be days before we score another three runs to even dream of tying.
  11. That was not a hard hit ball down the left field line, but it’s enough to score a runner from First. 1-1.
  12. The ump is not making friends and influencing people with some of his calls tonight
  13. The Tigers do Morty not much good by giving Lauer 4-pitch frame.
  14. Morty’s cheeks are flushed more than usual in this heat.
  15. Just saw the news and realized that I outlived Hulk Hogan so I win. I’m 73. He was 71.
  16. Maybe I should try to go back to sleep and they’ll score more runs, but I probably already messed up my sleep schedule for tonight by taking a mid-afternoon nap.
  17. Immediately waking to a home run was a nice surprise.
  18. Whoa! I just awoke from rare 2 hour “nap” in the middle of the afternoon and I’m dizzy as heck. And we score early! I lived in a strange alternate universe where two old time stadiums were crammed right next to each other - only a few feet apart - and were connected by a creaky, old-fashioned delivery elevator that served as a space-time cosmic wormhole. It was a slow, noisy delivery elevator, big enough to hold a model T auto, with an imposing gate that automatically rose slowly and loudly making frightening grinding noises every time you ascended to a new floor. Everything smelled of polished oiled wood and was permeated by the exotic smells of an early 20th century tobacconist shop. There was a news stand off the delivery elevator and it looked like something out of a movie from the 1920s. There were newspapers in foreign languages I couldn’t understand on racks in the news stand, and some of the papers were printed on vibrant yellow or pink newspaper like sports-oriented newspapers of France and Italy. Prominently displayed was the newest issue - 1920s - of the Sporting News printed in St. Louis. The teams were the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals but the ballparks were ancient yet well-maintained. It was definitely not 2025. Out of the delivery elevator as it rose to different floors I could look down upon the ballfields of either stadium if I glanced to either my left or my right and the stadiums were empty as if I had arrived hours before game time, or as if they were yet to be populated because I was in between space time moments where only something or nothing at all could occur. I was hoping to rent a flop house room in one of the hallways off the delivery elevator for $2 dollars a night and was planning to get a shave and a haircut at the barbershop with a hypnotizing, revolving red and white barber pole before the games began and was trying to decide which game to attend when I woke up.
