  1. I hate to say it, but Vierling and Meadows are the two black holes at the bottom of the order which last year were four holes so I guess in relation to last year it’s not as bad as it could be, but I was expecting more from these guys.
  2. Zach McKinstry walks. He just keeps producing.
  3. Nice quick inning by Holton.
  4. I’ve missed all this game so far because I started re-watching Homicide Life on the Street with my son who is 50 years younger than me and has never seen it before. He is a big Andre Braugher fan but only knows him from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Someone has to speak for the Jenny Goodes of this world. GO TIGERS!
  5. I don’t know if Flaherty got the handshake or not, but it sure would be nice if these guys could score some runs.
  6. I’ve started re-watching “Homicide: Life on the Street” with my son who’s 50 years younger than myself and never watched it before. He is a big Andre Braugher fan but only knows him from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I watched every episode of Homicide in the 1990s when it came out it and will be a long odyssey through seven seasons so my son and I are not going to binge it because it’s worth savoring.
  7. yes, they’re winning, but not at a very high clip anymore. Thanks to the pitching.
  8. I have become so used to either the excitement of unsurpassable leads coming early in games, or of defiant and unexpected comebacks occurring at the end, that anything outside these extremes seems tepid. These expectations are hard to sustain over a 162 game season of ups and downs, of boredom, and loss. I’m not sure how closely I’ll follow this game given that it’s blacked out on TV for me. Hoping for the best, I’ll probably peek at my phone on occasion and show up on this thread because I’m like the old man in the Monty Python movie who protests being tossed on the plague death cart saying “I’m not dead yet I don’t want to go on the cart. I’m getting better, I want to go for a walk, I feel happy…”
  9. One of my friends who got it who lives in Clearwater, got it really, really bad. So yes.
  10. The shingles stuff really did me in. It was both physically and emotionally a disturbing experience.
  11. Only Enns hasn’t given up multiple runs!
  12. The level of fail here is epic. 15–7 and the game ain’t over yet. I have a feeling we may be seeing some more serious trade activity than we expected.
  13. Brash with his 0.90 ERA in…
  14. Loaded for Torres… one out
  15. Am I right or what? Zach McKinstry homers (8) on a fly ball to right field. Spencer Torkelson scores.
  16. Good God this is getting worse and worse…
  17. “It’s got electrolytes!” I discovered this nice little item at the garden store inside the Idaho botanical garden where I go walking several times a week. And no, this is not an ad so don’t report me. It went down pretty well on a hot day in the shade nonetheless.
  18. Wow, I took a nap, hoping that I would awake to a happy world of better affairs in terms of this game and that did not happen.
  19. It’s getting to the point that whenever there’s a situation with men on base or something critical needs to happen, I’m always more confident when Zach McKinstry is coming to bat.
  20. I just got home after taking a walk in the botanical garden and up into the foothills of the Boise Front where once again I saw a solemn great horned owl sitting on a branch, nobly indifferent to my presence. Listened to the bottom of the First on the radio in my car. Too bad we couldn’t cash in on the bases loaded. This game is blacked out live for me. I’m presuming that Dan is doing the play-by-play on TV.
  21. A rain delay? How utterly uncommon and the only rain that’s occurring is right at the start of this game who would’ve thunk it?
