  1. The Mariners basically made the Tigers their woman tonight and we simply have to accept it and move on.
  2. Saw Superman with my son who had seen it night before. I guess it’s what you would expect in an era where superhero movies are such a genre thing and it’s all incredible CGI. It honestly left me a little bit cold. I might’ve been expecting more from it than it was able to deliver and that might be my problem. I genuinely like the waving fields of grain Americana thing and the sense of humor of the Christopher Reeve films. I did get emotional at times I’ll admit during this new film. Yes there were parts that were stirring. But I didn’t find it as interesting, or as affecting as I did the first Guardians film by James Gunn where he wasn’t dealing with an existing body of work that was as revered and sacrosanct as Superman, so he had more creative leeway. Parts of the Superman canon were considerably revised in this new film which is daring, and I think appropriate, and I’m not going to spoil that for you. I did though find this new version more memorable than the other recent DC iterations of Superman so this is a step in the right direction for Superman and for DC.
  3. I was going to beg that Raleigh not hit a grand slam and I’m glad I didn’t. I only thought it I didn’t write it down. This is a major shellacking.
  4. Well at 8–3 I’d say this game is out of reach even for the comeback Tigers. And there’s still aren’t any else yet. I was hoping this game would be one of those “representation“ games for bragging rights, but bragging is for the insecure.
  5. Well that didn’t take too long
  6. Carlos Hernández replaces Tyler Holton
  7. That homer to Raleigh was bound to happen, no shame in that, although it’s a drag
  8. Well, they’re coming back. They have a tendency to do this. They’re never out until the last out.
  9. You know we’ve gotten spoiled by the amazing exploits he’s been capable of lately. He has to be allowed to have a mortal game on occasion.
  10. Skubal can’t find the strike zone?
  11. Wish Meadows could’ve kept the line moving
  12. And, and, and he steals a base…
  13. McKinstry RBI single.
  14. I think it’s his fifth day like normal
  15. I’m going to Superman and will probably miss a good part of the game. Good luck all! I don’t have many opportunities to go to films with my son because our schedules are so disparate so I’m not going to lose out on this chance.
  16. The weather app on my iPhone, which is generally unreliable says it will only be partly cloudy. The Yahoo weather app - which is more reliable - based on Weather Underground that I also access on my phone also says it’s supposed to be only partly cloudy. I guess I’ll just have to tune in and - as children are told - I’ll get what I get and I can’t throw a fit.
  17. Right now, the Tigers have six all stars and the Dodgers have five, which means the Tigers have won the blank measuring contest.
  18. Wow, that is a thing of beauty. And it’s probably mostly true and mostly justified. I was not aware of this, but it makes my day.
  19. I forgot Friday is your night. You know, this holding off with the building of suspense is sort of like acting you’ve forgotten your child’s birthday and then you “surprise” them at the end of the day. As a fan with a near child-like affection for the team, I personally find this annoying, but oh well.
  20. It’s interesting that everyone and their grandmother knows that Casey Mize is now an All-Star although the Tigers mlb.com page has still said nothing about it. I guess updating things on that app is not something of particular urgency for whomever is in charge.
  21. So the Tigers have six guys on the team out of 35. Torres, Baez, Riley, Skubal, McKinstry, and now Mize. The last I checked, we were tied with the Dodgers for five players so now we have more than anyone else. Posted six hours ago I counted the number of players on the AL roster and it was 35 but when I asked this question through Google it said there were 32 players, 33 players, and 34 players and none of these various AI generated articles agreed with each other. Apparently Google AI cannot discriminate between data in terms of linear time because at one time all these different responses were true, so it “thinks” they are all true and equivalent now. So I think I’ll trust the MLB site and my ability to count. [EDIT] As of 7:10 AM EDT there is still no independent confirmation that Mize has been added to the All-Star roster.
  22. Mariners blew a 5–0 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning and lost in the bottom of the 10th 6–5 to the Yankees.
  23. That’s what I’m thinking.
  24. Bryan Woo Was pitching a no hitter for the Mariners who are leading the Yankees 5–0 in the bottom of the eighth before he gave up two hits. Unfortunately I can’t watch this game, but I like seeing the Yankees lose.
  25. I can’t find any independent verification that Skubal will start the All-Star game for the AL team. I think the Orioles announcers were speaking hypothetically given that almost everybody on earth thinks it would not only be a legitimately justified choice, but great from a marketing angle as well. The only place I could find where anyone was predicting differently is from a writer on Motor City Bengals speculated that Aaron Boone might instead play favorites and name his own starter Max Fried. Hopefully, when Skubal pitches an astonishing stellar game on national TV tomorrow night it will be obvious that he is the best choice to start.
