As I recall, after the hit, Lemieux made some crack along the lines of Draper should thank Lemieux for making him famous. Not that it was my place to forgive him, but I never did. Maybe there is another side to him that none of us will ever know. Anyway, I feel terrible for his wife and kids. lordstanley Posted May 29 Author Posted May 29 (edited) I am sure psychologists could speculate as to whether the Bell Centre ceremony is somehow linked to the timing of his suicide. Did he see the accolades and feel that could never be topped? Did all the cheers and adulation still leave an empty feeling inside? Did he feel like a phony? Did it bring back flashbacks to his career? I have no idea what goes on inside a suicidal man's head, but surely timing wasn't just a coincidence. The sad thing of course is that there were so many individuals on Monday who would have thrown as much support and resources to him as possible for months ahead if they had known he was suffering. "Ugh. Mental illness. He knew about mine. I wish I knew about his. " Edited May 29 by lordstanley Quote

GalagaGuy Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I can't even say I hate any of the Canadian teams, I'm just really invested in this streak of not winning the Cup since it's been going on so long. Quote

lordstanley Posted Sunday at 05:36 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:36 PM More fun for Canada, as a team featuring Crosby and Celebrini and Thomas falls to Norway in overtime in the bronze medal game at the worlds. But hey, here in Vancouver we are hosting a blockbuster set of matches at the FIFA World Cup starting in 2 weeks, like Australia vs Turkey, Canada vs Qatar, and New Zealand vs Egypt. 1 Quote

Mr.TaterSalad Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Random note, but if Gary, IN can support an NFL franchise, I don't want to hear anything more about Quebec not being able to support an NHL franchise. The median household income for Gary, IN is less than $35,000/year and they have less than 100,000 people in the Metro area. And before you say "Yeah, but it's really Metro Chicago", how many people are really going to buy season tickets and spend their time in Gary to watch football? Quote

You don't think it'll be like the NY NFL teams playing in NJ? From Manhattan to the Meadowlands it's about a 45 minute drive. Google says 23 miles/1 hour from the Loop to Hammond. Quote
