This Is Spinal Tap

The Princess Bride

Stand By Me.

Those are all perfect movies, in my opinion.  They all had the perfect amount of humor and heart and every single joke lands.   And Rob set aside his ego and let improvisers improvise.    Those movies were all perfectly-cast.      When Harry Met Sally, Misery, A Few Good Men..........man, that's a list.

All in the Family is my second favorite sitcom of all time. It was ground breaking. It pushed social boundaries and norms by touching topics no one else would touch. It portrayed the American family as an imperfect group of people, where the past conflicts with the present. Rob Reiner's role as Michael Stivic, the educated, liberal meathead to counter balance the old, racist Archie Bunker, was perfect. Reiner and Carol O'Connor were perfect for one another on screen. Together, they produced so many iconic and downright hilarious moments. Rob Reiner, you will certainly be missed. RIP!

So glad I had the presence of mind to go see him when he did a theater interview tour in support of the new Spinal Tap back in September. He was a good interview and told a great story about how the zit scene in the original came together.

I was struck by how much he sounded like Seth Rogen when he laughed.

I listened to his appearance on club random last month when driving back from TN.  They were riffing about something and said during filming of The Bucket List Jack told him 3 rules to live by at their age.   Don’t trust a fart, Never pass up a bathroom, never led a hard on to to waste.

Anthony Geary, Luke from General Hosptial died yesterday.

I always link Luke and Laura’s wedding, Prince Charles and Diana’s wedding, and the launch of the first space shuttle together in my memory bank.  I was 7-8 years old and I vividly remember how big of a deal those were at the time.  All happpend within about 6 months of each other in ‘81.
