Cade with two clutch possessions to close it, one on each end.  I do wonder if he is thinking too much about the triple double stats.  I would gladly trade some of his assists for less turnovers.

Also, credit to Harris who hit almost every big shot down the stretch when it seemed like things were unraveling.

It does seem like Ivey's defense has been better this year.  I am not sure exactly what happened on that last play...if that was bad or good defense.  It seemed like he was overplaying Trae Young to go left and wanted to force him to the baseline.  If Stewart did not come to help, Young scores pretty easy.  But maybe that was plan.

Cade puts Detroit up 1 with the layup.  8.5 seconds left.

I thought they left too much time on the clock, but being down they had to take the shot when they could.

Wow!  Ivey and Cade with great defense to clinch the win.

You can count that number of times that has happened prior on your thumb.  But kudos to them, they came through.

Ivey has looked like a man possessed at times this season.  His block on Capela earlier in the game being one prime moment.  Its still early, but I'm really happy to see his "rebirth" this season.

He picked up one of the better offensive players in the league at 40 feet.  Denied the 3PT attempt and stayed with Young to the hoop to contest the shot.  Stewart rotating is how defense is done, he is supposed to be there for the contest to take away the middle.  That is why Ivey is fading Young to his left, so there is only one angle to the hoop and it gives Stewart a shot to block it.  Even without Stewart, Ivey is there to contest what would be a hard shot to make.  That is all you can ask for when guarding someone as talented as Young.

If we want to nitpick, we should talk about Cade.  Ideally you want him to slide down inside of Okongwu to replace Stewart.  But whatever, he got the block to recover.

He opened up the pass-to-Okongwu-so-that-he-could-be-blocked option.

When is the last time a Piston had three triple doubles in a season? Bro just did it in three straight games, amazing.

He tied Thomas last night for career triple doubles at 5.  Grant Hill has 29 total and Cade tied his record last night of 3 consecutive triple doubles in a row.  Another one Sunday would set a new Pistons record.

Cade and Thomas are tied for second at 5.

Cade had 2 career triple doubles before having 3 in a row in the last 3. He has had some very real 4th quarter scoring issues but that's hugely impressive and is indicative of some real growth in his game, has also cut down on the turnovers in the last few games as well. Team is still a ways off but I think we're FINALLY starting to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Defensive effort across the board has been better this year. Even poor defenders like Beasley and THJ are at least giving effort on most plays.

Pistons have the 14th ranked defense in the league. If you would have told someone that before the season started, they'd have said you were crazy, especially after the Pistons brought in mostly shooters and weak defenders to shore up the offensive spacing.

Coaching matters. JB isn't elite, but his teams play defense, his rotations usually make sense, he works the refs, uses his challenges, and I've seen some nice in-game adjustments here and there. Night and day from Monty "The Terrorist" Williams.
