Meanwhile, for the 1st time in history, the "Crack Spread" between the cost of a barrel of oil and a barrel of refined diesel has hit $100. The cost of diesel is thus up substantially more than even the price of cride. Every airline ticket, every product shipped by rail or truck, every farm product from a field where a plow or harvester has to work, and every barrel of this winter's heating oil eventually has to include that increased cost.

And this cost will not fall any time soon, even if the Strait of Hormuz re-opens, because it is the result of the destruction of refinery capacity in the Iran and Ukraine wars.Refineries take a lot longer to rebuild than it takes ships to move across the ocean. The state of both wars being manifest failures of the Trump administration.
