Deleterious Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Think I'm with Buddha on this one. If a first is offered I would move Beasley. Losing him for the rest of the year helps us tank and lose enough to keep our pick. Getting the extra pick is big for a team with such little talent like Detroit. Also, I'm always leery of a guy having a career year in a contract year. Trading him doesn't do anything to change their odds on bringing him back next year. They can offer the same amount of money and terms either way. Malik Beasley has thoughts about his pending free agency 1 Quote

One big risk is the solid chemistry that's been built this year, which he seems to be at the heart of. It could be a heavy blow to a team that's just starting to build a positive identity. But maybe you mend that wound by bringing him back in the offseason. Second issue is that you have pretty good odds of losing your own pick even if you trade him. You aren't getting passed by the Wizards, Hornets, Nets, Raptors, or 76ers. Bulls are heading into tank mode at the deadline. That means you're at least the 9th seed and as long as you have Cade you're probably better than the Hawks for the 8th seed. Let's say it's a 50/50 chance at a pick in the very late lottery in a draft that "experts" such as Sam and Bryce are saying is junk after the first handful of picks. I'd still consider it for the extra pick you'd get in the trade, but it depends heavily on which team's pick we're talking about for me. Edited January 28 by Betrayer Quote
Deleterious Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Oh they 100% are in the play-in game. But they can make that and still keep their pick as long as they lose and one team that also lost has a better record. 1-13 the Pistons keep the pick. #14 is the last lottery pick, or one of the 4 play-in losers with the best record. I would guess the pick would be in the 20's. A contender will want him and thats where they pick. Plus, he isn't worth a pick higher than 20 IMO. Quote
buddha Posted January 29 Posted January 29 dont fall in love with a player in a contract year. think of the big picture. two first round picks next year might be enough to trade for a second star. Quote
Deleterious Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Sounds like the all star reserves are announced Thursday night. Quote

Malik Beasley has thoughts about his pending free agency To me it comes down to just how much stock you put into potentially getting the 6th seed and making the "real" playoffs. Barring something crazy you're almost surely going to lose that series but maybe you can make it a relatively tough series and go 5 or 6 games with some going down to the wire. Would getting guys like Cade and Ausar that type of experience along with gauging how they perform in such situations be worth a late 1st round pick? Also got to factor in the possibility that for atleast a short period you may generate actual fan interest around the team for the first time in awhile. If you don't think things like that mean much or will help the team much in the future then it should be a no brainer to trade him, get the 1st and just play out the rest of the season with hopes of getting a play in spot. Deleterious Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Mathurin and Nembhard are out. Nembhard defended Cade really well last game. Quote
Deleterious Posted January 30 Posted January 30 An NBA team getting an 8 second call against them is embarrassing. Quote

Deleterious Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I appreciate Cade going after that block and not giving up the fast break dunk. But with two fouls he needs to let that go. Quote
Deleterious Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Start using Beasley as the screener. Have him pop when his guy doubles Cade and just take open threes all game. Quote

Deleterious Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Starters contributed a bit more tonight. But Beasley was still the only 20 point scorer other than Cade. THJ with 3 points in 28 minutes. Quote

Deleterious Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Sort of agree. He took some pressure off Cade as a ballhandler too. Quote

Sports_Freak Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Pacers seemed to just be shooting lights out tonight. 3 pt daggers. Pistons did put up some fight though, it wasn't a total blowout. But we never seemed to recover from that hot start. And Harris....trade him. Addition by subtraction. Quote

Kinda surprised me. The TV crew got quite whiny as the game went on. They were extolling the virtues of Beasley's trash talking but discredited Haliburton for the same shenanigans. That seemed very unprofessional to me. The game was tough enough to watch to begin with, and then bad broadcasting to boot. Quote
